Does anyone have experience with this? According to the one and only source I found, I can continue doing contracted work from my home country (Canada) while on a tourist visa or temporary residence permit?

Is this accurate? And are there any other barriers to doing remote international work? Do I need to pay Polish taxes on my Canadian earnings, considering they will be transferred from a Canadian business to my Canadian bank account?

This exact question was asked 100 of times on this sub and other foreigners group.
Short answer is no, you will get into a gigantic legal mess with taxes and ZUS payments, your emplyer might also have issues because of that and yoyr only feasible option to ci tinue this remote employment is to set-up a company in Poland and go b2b with your employer.
First of all, contact an accountant. Organisations such as [http://pccc.pl/](http://pccc.pl/) might be helpful as well.
Taxes: check the international agreements on avoiding double taxation. Generally, if you spend more than 50% of your time in Poland a year, you’re considered a Polish tax resident, and should pay your taxes and social security contributions in Poland. As for not paying them in Canada in this case, consult, because some countries will attempt to double-tax you anyway (USA).
If that’s the case for you, and your company has no legal representation in Poland, you will also be responsible for handling the responsibilities of the company to the government. That means you pay all the contributions of the contract yourself (you’ll need an accountant, NIP, etc.). It is generally easier to just open an individual enterprise in Poland and sign an arrangement with your company, but if it’s problematic, maintaining an employment contact is also doable, just a bit of a bureaucratic pain in the ass.
