  1. Remove midsummer’s eve and I bet Finland would be a lot lower. Every midsummer they have a roundup in the news about “how it went this year”. Kossu and water is not a good combo.

  2. And in the Netherland, the drowning deaths are often non-Dutch.

  3. The closer you are to russia, the more likely you are to drown. Would like to see how likely you are to fall from a tall building. I bet that increases the closer you are to russia too.

  4. So weird looking at a statistic and knowing that somebody you knew is part of that statistic.

  5. How do land-locked countries have more drowning per capita than countries with super long coast-lines?

  6. Some people in RO are physically fighting lifeguards because they think the red flags are unjustified. Then they enter the sea at their own risk, and drown. You shoul’ve watched the news this summer it’s insane. Darwin awards left and right.

  7. Les Bretons vous savez pas nager ? Ou alors c’est la combo cidre + mer ?

Brittany are you all right ? Or is this related to people going to the water drunk maybe ?

Also what a bizarre streak in the middle of the country.

  8. I wasn’t aware that alcohol was among the liquids to be drowning in for this statistic 😛

  9. Alcohol and number of unguarded lakes when we looks on Poland

  10. Romania is so high because they’re brave! It’s an act of cowardice to run from the waves after drinking a couple of cold ones. Russian mentality through and through.

Also, Germany is so low because they go and die in other places like Croatia. Source: I’ve been a diving guide in a village close to Split, almost every year there were a few across the coast.
