Of course, they did, because it was never about competitiveness. It was about hiding trans people from view, forever.
How does someone become an anti trans protester? Like – what are they miffed about?
“We don’t hate trans women, it’s just about the innate unfairness we perceive”.
“How even can unfairness exist within a non-competitive activity that exists to encourage people to take part via communal exercise? You could literally take part on a cocktail of IOC a banned performance enhancing supplements and take part because it is not a competitive event, it’s community walking/running in a park”,
“You don’t understand, it’s the unfairness that trans women exist and get to take part in public life. We just don’t want it”.
“Oh right so you guys are a hate movement then?”
“No it’s not hate we just don’t want trans women to exist in any public context, they are a huge problem to a sane world that we want to solve. And no it’s not hate because no one likes trans people that’s just natural. Besides it couldn’t be a hateful person. I voted for Tony Blair don’t you know!”.
Come on, time is surely up on this hate movements. No one can be so gullible not to have seen through this by now.
The sports concerns are honestly ridiculous. How on earth did concern for literally a handful of trans individuals wanting to compete in largely contact sports that have gendered categories (plenty of sports have mixed teams!) become a genuine sticking point for tens of thousands of people just being able to live the life they want to live? Its a point worth debating for sure, but holy shit it is absolutely not a justification to maintain the systems that keep trans people down.
Seems silly if it’s not even a sex segregated event. Some people taking their issue to an illogical conclusion.
