1. Oh dear. Scott Benton is a particularly odious tory in my opinion. Despite being a gay man and therefore highly unlikely to be involved in the decision to have an abortion, he was associated with an anti choice hate group. He is still anti choice.

2. This is similar to the end of Major’s tenure. Sleaze after sleaze, scandal after scandal and he hung on to the bitter end.

3. If there’s a by-election in Blackpool South, it’ll be an absolutely key one!

   It’s a proper Labour vs Tory battleground – one of the seats that went to Labour in Blair’s 1997 win and then went back to the Tories in 2019 (as part of the Brexity “red wall” group that the media like to harp on about).

   This is exactly the kind of seat which will decide the next election. And it’s a pure Labour vs Tory seat – no significant Lib Dem vote share or any kind of tactical voting.

   If Labour win seats like this in the next General Election, they form the next government. So let’s see how well they can do in a by-election!
