Was less of a union of two states, and more like West Germany annexing East Germany.

Interestingly, one of my early memories is seeing information on TV about the unification of Germany. I remember there was consternation in my family. Parents asked themselves what would happen now. What will this new Germany that will border us be like? Because it was obvious that it will be powerful.But from what I see, things turned out well. This new powerful Germany then brought us into the European Union on their own back. And as someone from western Poland, for whom meeting Germans is no holiday, you are good neighbors for me. Not old enemies.Of course we are different. We also have neighborly quarrels and some conflicting interests. But trying to be objective, things worked out as best as they could between us.
