Help? Can anyone identify this harbour? It’s from a scanned film roll of a family outing, I’m trying to work out where and when.

  1. If you’ve a higher resolution can you see any registration details on any of the boats as that may help narrow down the area.

Are there any photos of shops, their name may help you search for the place.

Any car registration numbers may be able to help with “it’s not older that NNNN”.

  2. Can you post up somewhere a higher quality version (reddit shrinks the images) as usually the markings on the boats will give you the answer.

  3. Almost definitely Saundersfoot (Pembrokeshire)

  4. If I had to date the image, my guess would be mid-late 80s based on the vehicles I can identify on the right hand side of the image.

There’s a early Range Rover, Mk1 Ford Fiesta, Mk1 Ford Transit and an Early Mercedes (poss a W123). On the slip, there’s also an Austin Maxi, what looks like a Volvo 240 and a Mk3 Ford Escort 3-door estate.

They all scream 80s to me.

  5. Pretty sure the ‘Chantelle’ vessel seen in the picture is this one here built in 1976: [https://boats-from.co.uk/not-specified/westerly-centaur-26ft-sailing-boat-yacht-bilge-twin-keel-302359/302360](https://boats-from.co.uk/not-specified/westerly-centaur-26ft-sailing-boat-yacht-bilge-twin-keel-302359/302360)

From the style of car, I’d have guessed late 70’s and early 80’s, but you could post this to a car subreddit to see if anyone can recognise the models, and the years from that.

  6. I agree that it is Saundersfoot. You can see the lock gates that get you into the inner harbour and the rest of it looks very familiar.

  7. I was thinking Foey but I’ve never seen the water that low there.
