Am I the only one bothered by the passive form abused in French headlines on the newspapers?
I am referring to articles like [this](https://www.lessentiel.lu/fr/story/ilsefaitvoler-828758267303) appeared today or [this](https://www.lessentiel.lu/fr/story/il-refuse-de-servir-un-client-ivre-et-se-fait-tuer-178522145542) years ago, but there are tens of similar examples in L’essentiel or RTL.
Although it is grammatically correct, using the passive form puts the emphasis on the *passivity* (yeah.. of course) of the action, and to me gives the sense that the blame is on the receiver of the action more than the perpetuator.
I am not sure if this is a nuance of French, or there is some kind of reason in the media, but if you say “*Le client se fa tuer*” instead of ” *un criminel tue un client*” seems like the client “allowed” that to happen..which i am sure wasn’t the case.
sorry for the rant, but i really hate this when i read the headlines, and doesn’t happen (at least that often) in any newspaper i read in my mother tongue or in english so it kind of stands out..
