American here. I am guessing this is probably related to the fact that a NATO skeptic is ahead in the polls for the election in 2024.
For the median American, Trump’s scandals are canceled out by all the scandals around Hunter Biden. On top of that, there is a poor economy, an immigration crisis, and an incumbent president perceived as too old and lacking full mental capacity.
Thus, President Pavel’s statements are quite justified.
