Plenty of countries have comparatively weak militaries to their neighbors and aren’t in imminent danger of invasion. Suriname has only 2,000 personnel; it doesn’t need fighter jets or HIMARS. They maintain territorial integrity regardless of the 334,500 strong Brazilian army. Brazil has failed to contain Putin but it takes a lot more social rot to spur a population to conquest and genocide.
A happy future is one with less need for the military industrial complex.
