These days politics is the most ironic rage bait going man. 🫠
Just numb to this country’s rapid decline now. Is what it is.
Some highlights:
> he will hit out at politicians who “spent more time campaigning for change than actually delivering it”
> In his speech, he will also accuse Labour, who are still trouncing the Tories in the polls, of wanting “power for the sake of power” and being “everything that is wrong with our politics”.
> In his speech, Mr Sunak will say: “There is the undeniable sense that politics just doesn’t work the way it should. [There is] a feeling that Westminster is a broken system”.
> there is an “exhaustion with politics. In particular, politicians saying things, and then nothing ever changing. And you know what: people are right”, he will say.
> “Politics doesn’t work the way it should. We’ve had thirty years of a political system which incentivises the easy decision, not the right one. Thirty years of vested interests standing in the way of change.”
> The PM will say he wants to change the political system, which is “too focused on short-term advantage, not long-term success. Politicians spent more time campaigning for change than actually delivering it. Our mission is to fundamentally change our country”.
At least he is honest for once, problem is with admitting whose fault it is that we are where we are. Let’s see how many useful idiots buy this crap and vote for them “because they will fix the broken system now”.
So
In my humble opinion
Party’s should be banned from saying if you vote for us we will do X Y and Z when they are the government
They should have to say these are our achievements if you vote for us we will carry on with these programmes
So his solutions, while still in power, to the problems the country is facing is word soup and I’m supposed to trust him to be the person to “fix politics”.
Wasn’t this what the Conservative introduced, recently repealed fixed term parliament act purported to do?
I’ll hold back my full thoughts pending the complete speech, but unless he makes an actual proposal on changing the electoral system, whatever he says is worthless.
I think there’s more chance of Adolf Hitler rising from the dead and apologising to the Jews than there is of the Conservatives reforming politics, tbh.
Oh fuck off, how is this their line? They must think we are all morons
Whose gonna tell him which party has been in power for the last 13 years? Who is gonna tell him who was chancellor under Boris Johnson?
The man is doolally.
We have just seen a Health Secretary more concerned with women being referred to as people than that more than 1 in 10 of us are on an NHS waiting list.
We’ve just seen the Home Secretary put Enoch Powell to shame
We’ve just seen Liz Truss advocate unfunded tax cuts less than a year after driving the country off a cliff doing the exact same thing.
We’ve just seen The Secretary of State for Equalities claim Britain is the best country in the world to be black less than 2 years after a pandemic struck that disproportionately killed people of colour. In a country where you are 5 times more likely to be sectioned for mental health problems if you are black than if you are white.
We have barely even heard the word Brexit once. The flagship policy rammed down our throats in its most extreme form, following a knife edge vote that took place days after a sitting MP was assassinated for her opposition. It’s such a expensive and ineffective failure it’s advocates cannot even speak it’s name.
Politics is broken. But who would give it back the children who spent a decade ripping it apart one limb at a time to put right?
So, they’ll introduce a better voting system (I like the multi-member large constituencies for the EU elections) to avoid the issues of FPTP.
And replacing the Lords with a better upper chamber that is actually elected and has some genuine power.
And reinforce the independence of the BBC, not appointing cronies to the board.
And regulate the press so that lies actually have consequences, ownership is based in this country and restricted to one owner per newspaper.
Ah but I think you’ll find that the woke blob made up of the entire public sector and some lawyers and also everyone who works from home have stopped the government from doing what they want at every turn.
Somehow.
Presumably they’ve secretly become MPs and voted against Tory policy in the commons? I’m not really sure how it’s supposed to work.
Or wait, was it the EU and the evil ECHR?
I can’t keep track of all the bullshit at this point. Maybe it’s trans people, or people who like to eat tofu. Maybe that dastardly Jeremy Corbyn?
Regardless it couldn’t possibly be the fault of the people actually in charge.
Like Peter Sutcliffe offering Domestic Violence advice. Britain is sinking and the band still plays….
Lol, if you search by new on this sub the story just underneath this one explains at least in part why politics is ‘broken’, and his party are to blame.
>At least one-tenth of Tory donations since 2010 are from property industry | Party funding
“We, the tories, have fucked everything up. Trust us, the tories, to fix everything”
Y’know what? I’ll pass.
The problem is not this entitled tosser saying this BS, it’s the morons voting for him and his ruinous party because the press has given the idea that somehow labour is financially incompetent – while Tories have brought Brexit, mortgage crisis, energy price crisis, housing crisis and now even immigration crisis!
Fix Britain’s broken politics… oh, good, is he going to call a snap election so that we can kick these horrible Tories out of power?
Well if put on his best Cbeebies presenter’s voice, I’d definitely be inclined to believe him. /s
