Looks like a cities sigil. So it would be the sigil of the city the church is in.
Could also be the sigil of the reigning family that founded the church building centuries ago
Looks like a coat of arms (Wappen), either of the city or of a noble family. I would guess it’s a rather crudely depicted *lion rampant*; a very common heraldic motif.
