Ignoring societal values and living their own parallel lives separated from the rest of the community sounds more like the ultra wealthy to me
People undoubtedly do, but with the right approach, their kids will mingle, and their kids’ kids even more so.
Demonising them isn’t the right approach.

Braverman certainly lives a parallel life and ignores British values such as tolerance and acceptance of different cultures and ideas.
If she dislikes it so much here, why doesn’t she go to India?

What you won’t see on threads like this is acknowledgement that among those from recent immigrant backgrounds there is a very diverse experience in outcomes and where they are. With messages like this there is a call to socially conservative working class and lower middle class whites. But also to those who feel their community has put in the effort to integrate and has worked hard to succeed.
You can view politics as a sport to always support your team and boo the enemy. Or you can understand it as a subject to be studied. I think some of this messaging is aimed at more socially conservative minority groups who are not as sold on some of the modern twitter trend politics as many middle class Redditors.
Its true that certain demographics have formed enclaves within towns where they have their own business, schools and mosques. There are entire areas of towns that are predominantly muslim and are so tight nit they can get by without learning English. Areas that are so tight night the Police aren’t able to properly police and stop the molestation of tens of thousands of white girl in every area with a concentrated Pakistani community. And they are all so quick to shout racist that even their own politicians admit to turning a blind eye rather than speaking out and losing their jobs.
So yes, she’s right.
The UK offers a sense of stability that most immigrants don’t get at home. If that wasn’t the case there would be quite a lot less immigrants in the UK.
So even though some people don’t adopt the supposed “British values” eventually their children will. I mean, just look at your PM.
I’ve said this a few times about the ‘failing to integrate’ issue – you put people in towns where they’re given fuck all, there’s no investment and there’s nothing to do – Dewsbury, Oldham, Luton – and expect them to embrace British culture? Why would they?
White people have all done their level best to get the fuck *out* of those places. The lower property prices mean they’re easier for immigrant communities to buy up houses and form their own, insular communities.
If you don’t want areas with majority (let’s face it) Muslim communities, then do something about investment and housebuilding to make these towns seem more attractive to non-Muslims.

I will say, I don’t think expecting someone to either know or learn English is too much of an imposition on immigrants (just like expecting people to learn French of Spanish shouldn’t be a big ask, for those ex-pats who retire overseas). But you can’t force them to give up their religious beliefs as soon as they arrive.
Actually think the direct quotes from both Braverman and Anderson in the story are fair – can’t say there’s anything untrue in those statements.
Unfortunately they typically don’t stop there and have both been using a lot of nasty rhetoric in recent times.

Coming from this woman I think it lacks the right approach, but is she wrong? I’m an “expat” that was born in the middle east, when I came back to Manchester the first thing I did was go to the job center in rusholme…lmao it was like being back in the middle east. I later found it’s refered to as “curry mile”.
And I think a lot of places are like that. It’s fine to bring your own culture and tradition as long as it’s a positive influence. I make a comparison to “China Towns” which are popular in North America. That is an example of integrating your culture in a positive way, people love going to China Town and experiencing new cuisine, art, and architecture.

Most people live like this. This has been the goal for decades, to separate people from each other and break down any sense of community, solidarity, mutual aid, etc. Immigrants are not to blame, it’s political policy.

I ignore British values, as defined by the Conservative Party, every single day of my life. I want as little as possible to do with “British values” and “British people” so even if this were the case, I don’t really blame them. And I was born and raised on this shithole of an island.

It’s very strange behaviour, imagine someone going to multiple Indian subreddits and pretending that indians don’t have culture, after having the founding, history and commonly held values or the country explained to them, they later the next week do the same.
The thing that makes it worse is when you name an important value and trace its history back you quite frequently find a root in the UK.
Even just something so basic like the assumption of innocence & our countries stories about witch trials.
The town is a marginal seat. 2 out of 3 MPs are now unbelievably Tory and Labour who ran the council for decades were inept. Living in the town, this will go down well amongst large sections of the community. There’s a lot of simmering resentment about the huge decline of the town centre and sadly people aren’t clicking that it’s nothing to do with immigration.
