This rhetoric is dangerous, and there will be many comments making jokes about him, and like the hospital ward ban, trying to do “gotcha’s” bringing up trans men on women’s wards in those cases. Sunak, the rest of his party, and it seems an endless cavalcade of our politicians seem to want nothing more than to use trans people as both a political football, and the current scapegoat for why things are bad.
They’re the token minority to punish and to make their lives harder. Eventually the party may move on to soneonynew to demonise, but we’ll have to spend so long clawing those rules back, and the damage in the public eye may be there for a long time… it’s so scary, I just want to live in peace, as to do so many of my friends, yet all these people want to shout their opinions about those that have no impact on them, and expect laws to be changed and be all incredulous about things they don’t understand. Wards. Name changes. Treatments. Titles. Pronouns. As if what other people do with those impacts the every day person on the street’s quality of life!
I’m unsure of direction, but to have a party so bold in its hate, so backed up by it’s members and sadly in a lot of cases, the media. And to have every visit to my doctor’s be punctuated with this sad admittance that it is not getting better because all the people “up top” are coming down hard is utterly fucked.
Edit: of course the main post gets downvoted by half the people voting on it, can’t have it show on the front page! Visibility for the kind of shit the leader of the country is saying is important even if it’s hurtful, shows the low calibre of person we’re dealing with
And there it is. The slow march by the far right to exterminate trans people continues. How long until we have to be forced to wear certain clothes? Or have to put our names on a list so people know we exist in their local area? I wish I was joking but this is how it starts, with dismissal and mockery from the highest political power in the country.
Edit: wording
I just don’t get why they are so hell bent on going after such a small, already marginalised group of people. In day to day life, a persons biological sex is not important to me. But for someone who isn’t comfortable with that, transitioning is so important and would be something they should be able to access and feel safe doing so.
If men want to abuse or harm women they’ll do so without putting themselves on a waiting list to receive a gender dysphoria diagnoses or start hormones. Visa Versa with women, they won’t transition to be a man just for the sake of hurting men.
I don’t doubt that abusive trans people exist, like I don’t doubt abusive biological men and women exist. You find good and bad in every community in every part of the world.
He’s more than a bit thick and mean spirited is our Rishy.
Back in the real world, it is not common sense to misgender trans people. I’ve not been misgendered at work for years. Not everyone I work with is super left wing, it’s a pretty standard NHS trust, it would just make no sense and people would look at you like you’d lost your mind.
Trans people aren’t responsible for the version of us that lives in bigots brains, that’s on people like Rishy Sunak advocating hate and mistreatment and telling you we aren’t who we very visibly are. He’s a dangerous arsehole wrecking the country and trying to hurt one of the most vulnerable communities at the same time. He can’t be voted out soon enough.
It’s baffling to me the chokehold that trans people have on bigots like this, regardless of your views on it/whether you “understand it” or not, it really isn’t hard to be a decent person and refer to someone by the pronouns/gender they would like. It takes no effort on your part and yet helps the person you’re talking too feel way more comfortable in their own skin
It is common sense if you’re an absolute bellend who hasn’t grown to even the basic level of adulthood.
Since we should all treat others how we want to be treated ourselves, (although I prefer the platinum rule to the golden one) someone should tell her that what she said is so far away from common sense she would need two private jet journeys to get within 10 miles of it.
Literally everything you guys don’t like is genocide apparently. Hard to imagine why the trans rights movement is slowly losing the arguement.
*the British public are being “bullied” into believing that “people can be any sex they want to be.”*
Please point me to a single person that believes this. One single person. Let alone someone who’s ‘bullying’ others into believing the same.
