We stopped going to Maui ( Hawaii). Bed bugs last two times even though we stayed at quality resorts that were immaculate and management were attentive in changing our room. Nearly all of our travelling is now camping.
Re Paris: I was a student at University in Paris in the 1980’s. Never even heard of bed bugs. Is there some reason why they have become epidemic in that city?

You don’t need dogs to detect bed bugs. You can simply just note how they walk, if they walk away from you all smug like, it’s definitely a bed bug.
Bed bugs reproduce with hypodermic genitalia called traumatic insemination. The males inject their sperm directly into the female’s abdomen. Amusingly, they also differentiate the sexes by size so a freshly fed male will also suffer the same fate.
I can see the bed bugs getting rides on those dogs 😌
