Why don’t the energy suppliers increase their prices then?
Unless actual electricity production has dropped, they weren’t suppliers. They were brokers. Apparently inefficient brokers. This is how the market should work if you’re going to allow brokers in a utility.
These are just brokers though. Any Tom, Dick & Harry can set these up and run their own energy firm with a mark-up to customers. Most of these companies run on tight margins. Nothing of value is lost when they go bust and no supply system is threathened either.
