Germany’s political landscape is shifting, with the far-right AfD party ahead in the polls

  1. You guys spent so much time worrying about Donald trump that you became him.

  2. It starts with the feeling of lack of control.

Average pay is too low, companies’ margins are too high, CEOs make far too much $, taking profits from the companies that would spread money (not significantly, but still) to the average worker.

Those are small things that add up. People get annoyed and vote for someone that doesn’t go ‘business as usual’.

It’s not a new mechanism. Just let regular people earn more so that they won’t go radical.

  3. Fyi they are just second in the polls with a gap of about 7 percentage points behind the CDU. The article also says that but the headline may be misleading.

  4. Could be worse, unlike in the US for instance it would be very hard for them to take power. Honestly the far right are going to win in most other European countries (including major ones like France) before the AFD get in charge in Germany (unless there’s a very major political change).

  5. Once again, anything not considered as left is automatically painted as “***far***-right” by media. Jeez.

  6. If those fuckers get elected you’ll catch me in the revolutionary underground

  7. Well who would’ve guest having an open border policy does have its consequences after all. Like it’s funny to watch here in the US. Like do German politicians not see the main problem (I mean yea we have problems here in the US as well)

  8. This happens. Chances are they’d go back to below 5% if the government actually addressed the unending waves of unskilled immigration, but that seems to be the hill they want to die on. You don’t see far-right parties surging in Denmark.

  9. Can someone enlighten me why the established parties are so determined to die on the hill of illegal migration? There is clearly no votes in it. There is no lobby money it. I find it hard to believe politicians suddenly discovered morality.

  10. Ah crap. Next thing we’ll have to pay you reparations every elections.

  11. Well, are we going to use far-left term then for the other side?

  12. Fucking hell. Are Russia and Germany about to team up?

  13. Love it when people vote in fascists to own the establishment. Kind of like cutting your nose off to spite your face. Go get ’em champ! Screw yourself over – that will teach them! I am sure Scholz is trembling in his boots. In the meantime your country becomes a shithole and your life becomes worse but hey – maybe the Green Party is now very upset with you!

  14. Wonder why. Wonder why its almost the same in every EU country – to the top with the right wing.

  15. I thought they were going to ban them? That won’t backfire…

  16. Never forget that liberals and supporters of the extreme right have the same masters. At home, we cry terrorism as soon as leftists burn a few trash cans during demonstrations and we repress them strongly without any respect for human rights. When far-right activists attack left-wing mayors and politicians, it’s total silence, in the media as in our government of extreme liberal centrists.

  17. STILL haven’t learned a thing from the nazi experiment, eh?

What’s the word for “ostrich” in German?
