This is the real stabilizing reason Muscovy is not a threat, to using a Nuke in Ukraine.
If a country can use nukes when they are failing an offensive war it opens a whole can of worms that I don’t think anyone wants opened.
Nukes to protect against attack, that’s been a long standing point of having them.
When you start considering nukes because you fucked up an offensive war, then of course, even countries that support you are going to get nervous about that particular idea.
Stressed trade relations are the least of anyone’s concern if nukes start popping.
If China wants to impress upon them the futility of it, good, because it would be futile. But it’s not like it’s Beijing’s call if Putin loses his mind and his underlings are suicidal-tier stupid. As for detonating them over their own land as a show of force . . . “why are you hitting youself?”
If Russia uses a single nuclear weapon, it will result in full nuclear war and there will be no china.
It would behoove china to encourage their homies to not use nuclear weapons. In fact, it would be nice to put the entire nuclear weapon era in the past for the human race.

Russian Elite has alot of its children, families, in western countries, along with alot of assets (houses, appartments…) attached to them. The nuclear attack will not happen so easily.
Nuclear attack is double shot in the foot (less support, more opposition).
China isn’t scared about what other nuclear-armed countries will do, but rather what the use of nukes in a war of aggression sends as a signal to other non-nuclear armed countries: That one is helpless without nukes. Thus the use of nukes would create a nuclear arms-race like never seen before. And since China has conflicts with various countries in Asia, they’d prefer for those countries to not get nukes themselves. That way those countries are much easier to bully.
Right. Primary one being China as they only have around 15% as many nukes as the US and Russia.
Meanwhile, a nuclear power plant is packed to the brim with explosives and China remains quiet.
