Hi, I am currently in Helsinki and I got parking ticket, but there is only parking sign without anything else, No information that I need perlit whatsoever. Should I pay it? What are consequences of ignoring it? Thanks

  1. Based on your photo that seems like a private parking lot. They tend to have signs on the entry that shows who can park there and on what time. Could you tell us where this is located so we can help you more?

  2. If there were signs saying “yksityisalue” where you entered then yeah you need to pay. If there was not sign from where you entered you can contest the ticket because the area was not properly marked. Then what will happen if you ignore the ticket depends on who gave you the ticket if it’s form city of Helsinki the car won’t be allowed to leave the country until the fine is payed, if it’s some independent firm like “parkkipate” I don’t know I guess they can’t prevent you from leaving but depending on how hawkish they want to be they could come after you legally even in your own country. If you don’t pay either they will grew fees and eventually go into collection, so I would either take the L or contest the ticket.

  3. Most likely your car was not on marked spot or some part of car was over the lines. This blue sign means that you can park only at marked spots so white lines on the ground
