Sainsbury’s now more expensive than Waitrose for non-loyalty scheme members

  1. Mental it’s Sainsbury’s, probably the worst of all the supermarkets aside from Morrisons.

Never been sure what their niche is, quality and variety has always been poor but they’ve never been cheap either, so it’s a weird one.

Either way, the way the loyalty schemes have shifted at all the supermarkets is pretty shit (cheers Tesco!).

  2. I walked into a Sainsbury’s local a couple of weeks ago, saw the prices, and walked down the road to the Co-op instead. I don’t have a nectar card though.

  3. > A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said that comparing prices without considering loyalty offers is “misleading”

Hoisted by their own petard. It’s obvious that the loyalty offers are often the real prices and that they restrict access to loyalty members only so they can force us all to give them our data, but live by the sword die by the sword. If they want to appear cheaper they should give up that technique.

  4. I wonder how they compare once loyalty ~~scams~~ schemes are taken into consideration.

  5. The thing is that the nectar price only applies to some items. So it’s very difficult to shop, it depends on the actual product. Why don’t they just offer 2% off an entire basket and if you spend over x you get 3% That’s easier than doing it by product.

However having seen this I may pay Waitrose a visit.

  6. There are some serious bargains to be had in Waitrose.

Co-Op, however, should be burned to the ground and it’s owners paraded through the market square, put in stocks and pelted with their own poor quality over priced vegetables.

  7. Sainsbury’s is the biffins bridge of supermarkets. I don’t really understand how they are still in business

  8. Well done, Sainsburys, after a lifetime of custom, I’ve now switched to Aldi.

  9. Waitrose isn’t too expensive and their essenti range is way better them anything else
