  1. Oh boy another post on Irish defence. Let me try to predict all the tired lines that’ll be repeated:

    “Military industrial complex”

“Suppose you’ll be signing your kids up so”

    “NATO wars”

    “Yugoslavia did nothing wrong”

“Sure who wants to invade us?”

  2. Well, yes, generally when someone is going to buy things, the people who sell those things get involved.

It would be quite tricky to buy them otherwise.

  3. They’d be pretty shit businesses if they didn’t want to sell their product.

  4. We’ll get around to the fighter jets, but first we’ll get the ball rolling with a deal for new boots and socks from the middle aisle in Lidl.

  5. Watch out for Prince Andrew spotting a way out of his financial woes by offering to broker a deal for some beyond the Pale Saudi prince with an airfield full of jet fighter planes missing the odd wing.

  6. If anyone can detail a realistic scenario in which it would be appropriate to instruct ireland’s military to engage in a conflict with someone else I’m 100% behind this.

If a realistic scenario in which Irelands military can be used cannot be provided then this expensive upgrade is the biggest scam in the history of the state

  7. I can’t wait til we have the most expensive M16s in the world

  8. We need a good modern fleet and a bunch of long range drones, that’s about it.

  9. Good, we need drone tech and drone defence immediately. The shit coming out the Ukraine war with drones should have everybody paying attention.

  10. Are we not buying enough Raytheon products in our airports?

  11. Arms dealers probably love us. The fact that we rarely use anything means we’re never phoning up for support within the warranty period. Like those navy boats that aren’t even crewed.
