Allowing a nation at war to become a member of the union is a bad idea. But hey, I’m in the UK (not so) sunny Brexit uplands, so why would I care?
I’m not a troll, but as a Pole I deeply believe that Ukraine must face the demons of its past before accession talks to the EU. They still cannot deny and refuse to talk about the genocide that took place. Nazism and Ukraine’s Nazi heroes like Bandera deserve condemnation, not glorification, just like the red and black flags. I won’t even touch on the topic of oligarchy and its influence.
“The inhabitants of Kresy were killed twice, once by ax blows, the second time by silence. And this second death is worse than the first.”
Accession talks ≠ membership
Sure, the faster the accession talks start the faster they’ll know all the things they need to comply with before accession.
Can anyone tell me why they’re pushing so hard when it can never happen in the next 10 to 20 years ? War or not, they’re not ready. Countries that were better prepared took more than 10 years. Ukraine needs to be reformed top to bottom, not something that can happen for years.
Not gonna happen , and he’s not gonna win or stop this war , wearing this olive outfit to every summit not gonna help dealing with rotten corruption in every structural level of his government either. Putting all his money on demented president of the US who’s loosing support can get you so far.
Lol. So you are trying to now corrupt the EU in to breaking their own membership criteria and requirements?
Fun
I don’t think the EU should be expanding any time soon. I, also, don’t necessarily believe allowing Ukraine into the EU would be beneficial for us (other than for Western businesses wanting to profit off war-torn Ukraine.) There are already vast differences between countries when it comes to their ideas about what the EU should look like in the future, it’ll be hard to go forward without addressing them in any meaningful way.
I’m kinda worried about the weapons that will be left behind after this war ends. I don’t have any solution for the issue though, wonder if they have a plan after the war to demine and dearm the populace
