He’s arguing in the cases against him that he should not have to go to court because it interferes with his candidacy.
It’s a hard argument to make when he has lawsuits outstanding as a plaintiff.

The lawsuit was to try to delay the case. His whole legal defense to this is to push things back until he’s elected president, then use that power to make all these problems go away. Then try to stay in power until he dies, or get rid of anyone who would even consider laying charges on him after he leaves office.
