Netflix has renewed Castlevania: Nocturne for a second season.
The first season of the animated series debuted September 28. Its the next installment of the Castlevania universe, picking up 300 years after the end of the original Castlevania series, which ran for four seasons on Netflix.
It is based on the classic Konami video game series.
“Thanks to all of the Castlevania fans old and new for the amazing response and support!” said Creator/Showrunner Clive Bradley and showrunner Kevin Kolde in a joint statement. “We are excited to be able to bring you more Castlevania: Nocturne and the next chapter in the rise of Richter Belmont.”
In its first five days of the series dropping on Netflix, the video game adaptation reached the streamer’s Top 10 English TV List during the week of October 1. It also reached the Top 10 in 40 countries.
Season one took place in France in 1792 – the height of the French Revolution. Here’s the synopsis: In a remote part of western France, the counter-revolutionary aristocracy has forged an alliance with a terrifying Vampire Messiah, who promises to ‘eat the sun’ and unleash an army of vampires and nightcreatures to crush the revolution and enslave humanity. Annette, a sorceress from the Caribbean, seeks out Richter Belmont, last descendant of the long-fabled family of vampire hunters, to lead the resistance.
Project 51 Productions and Powerhouse Animation will continue to produce the series for Netflix. Sam Deats and Adam Deats will once again share directing duties.
I have tried to watch it, I made it to Ep 3, and I cannot escape how they have butchered Richter Belmont and his storyline.
I watched the first Castlevania again to wash that hot mess from my mind. I don’t understand why they could not have just stuck to the storyline
They made it too anime and too much the power of friendship. I hope they make it more like the original series based more on character development and world building and less on the plot.
Great, I’ve really enjoyed it.
Cannot wait for the continuation
