India is paying greatly discounted rates for Russian oil that eventually makes its way to the rest of the world.
It essentially a price cap on Russian oil.
The real issue is Saudi Arabia/OPEC artificially manipulating the price of oil. If they wanna be big boys, maybe it’s time to cut them off the western teat and they can deal with Iran with Russian support. One sure they can get pointers from Armenia on how to make it work effectively.
India is china but 40 years behind. We should NOT invest more industry in their country. Cut out the middle man and go to africa or SEA. We are just repeating history by siding with this tyrannical regime.

That’s misleading. EU “increased” trade with India is a result of EU buying Russian oil from them. Everyone perfectly knows where “Indian” oil come from

How’s this for a radical idea? Bring manufacturing back to Western countries, and screw the fat cats who don’t like it. It’s the only way to ensure security going forward.

Much of India is super competitive and it’s every person for themselves in order to survive. They also want to stick it to the west for past grievances and to prove their power. The west needs to realize what China, India, Saudi Arabia/OPEC and others are doing is taking this opportunity to damage the west and increase their own power. We are in an economic world war and the only way to end it is stop russia. No red lines, no hesitation. MAGA Republicans support for russia is treason.
But isn’t india reselling the refined oil to Europe? EU could just sanction refined oil from India to stop the demand if they want to.
Pretty sure this has cropped up before but India buys with Rupees which moskovia can’t spend anywhere internationally apart from with India, so they get cheaper oil and other stuff for free ……

We would get more cooperation from India if the West tightened travel/work/student visa requirements.

Don’t rely on a country on the edge of famine to be a reliable partner. The pressures on India dictates it MUST play all sides to its advantage. Still shitty, don’t get me wrong, but understandable.
