So a while back, the IPCC reports said that 1.5C change would come with noticeable changes in agricultural yield. Could that already be priced into our food supply?

At this point, global warming is inevitable no matter what we do so should just switch to climate mitigation, we should seriously start investing in technologies such as water desalination to make it cheap and accessible for everyone because it’s clear there’s no stopping the warming anynomre

The ‘critical’ 1.5C is a target for warming of the global climate by the end of the century vs pre industrial levels- it isn’t a significant threshold any more than 1.4 or 1.6, but a politically negotiated target (which is basically how much do we think we can minimize how fucked we are- heavily pushed by small island states who would/ will be fucked over 1.5).
So, recent monthly temperature averages, inflated by El Niño and solar cycles (and of course climate change) have been 1.5 above pre industrial levels- ok, alarming and proof this shit is real, but it doesn’t mean it’s over and we’re all fucked. We will probably overshoot by mid century, but with sensible policies and technology breakthroughs can hopefully bring it back down to <2.0C and whilst some will certainly be fucked- humanity will live on to find other ways to nearly wipe itself out.
