  1. A lot of people go into music as a career without realising just how cutthroat it is, and how difficult it is to actually make a success of it. It’s an incredibly oversaturated field.

    A lot of those people should keep it as a hobby rather than try and make a living of it.

  2. Once again. It’ll be like everything else where the top 99.9% percentile are making 99% of the me money.

  3. This is true of all the creative industries. Most published authors are earning less than that, and that’s not counting those who self publish.

    My wife broke min-wage as an author for the first time this year and it was a massive achievement. It took a positive review in the NYT, and a US publisher picking her up to even get that far.

  4. Controversial opinion maybe but I think you should make music because you love it not for money. Things went wrong when music was capitalised for money.
