Trump’s “Absolute” Immunity Argument Is Even Worse Than It Looks: He and his legal team claim the Constitution absolves him of any responsibility for January 6. It does not.

  1. If this is the best that Trump’s lawyers have got, then what they’ve got is nothing at all, writes Matt Ford.

  2. It just kills me that these morons think the constitution can be used as a shield for criminal behavior.

  3. Just the fact that governors often end up in jail, for all sorts of things, is an indication of how lame this argument is.

  4. The constitution says that this traitor is Gill 🐠tea☕️ 🐖💩

  5. Remember the point is to claim crazy stuff, say he knows what the constitution allows, and when judges strike him down say they are destroying America.

Rinse and repeat till there’s enough dead bodies for him to climb over into the white house.

  6. “If not the constitution, then the bible, if not the bible, then I granted myself immunity with my mind. “. Tump

  7. Um…I want to let you know that just saying “absolute immunity” doesn’t do anything.

  8. All he needs to do is show up in court, with a copy of the Constitution in his suitcase, with the relevant portion highlighted. The judge will then dismiss all charges against him.

  9. Just like when a president robs a bank! It’s true! Presidential immunity covers it all! Believe me! Believe me!

  10. If anything, the constitution commands that he be executed for his treason.

  11. tRump plans on tearing up the constitution as soon as he is re elected king.

  12. So Biden gets to be President for as long as he wants? Ok

  13. Can someone double check and make sure they’re reading the correct document?

  14. I guess it never occurred to his lawyers to actually read the Constitution, or failing that google “does constitution absolve Trump from all wrong doing because was president” before making this argument?

  15. If anything, the Constitution defines how he is a legit traitor and the despot we were meant to be vigilant of.

  16. Dutch consulate: Diplomatic immunity!

    Mutaugh: It’s just been revoked….

  17. So if the constitution shields criminal behavior…..then he could accuse his political enemies of treason and have them rounded up and executed. Just like a dictator would do……

  18. How much has this bottom feeder got away with in his life because he doesn’t mind laying in the muck he spreads. I can see him as a small child about 7 or 8 standing over another child bloody and distressed and little turd Trump saying, “My dad is Fred trump.” He is eighty and still can’t take his medicine.

  19. Not only could he have shot someone on Fifth Avenue, the Constitution would have rendered him immune from prosecution. At least that’s what his Lionel Hutz level lawyers would say.

  20. They’re channeling Richard Nixon: “If the president does it, it’s not illegal.”

  21. LOL!!!! This is otherwise known as Trump’s hail Mary.

  22. I like how his defense isn’t that he did it, but how it was okay that he did it.

  23. I mean, he has the best constitutional attorneys, right? /s

  24. To conservatives – you don’t need immunity if you did nothing wrong correct? Therefore Trump is admitting he broke the law and that he should be above it.

    Conservatives: “So”

  25. It is time we accept no where in the constitution does it grant immunity to any sitting politician. Although it does grant it to Congress to enable them to travel to the sessions.

  26. I mean, you say it’s worse… The fact that he’s shoot himself in the food looks pretty great to me!

  27. Super simple then: If it does, then Biden can do whatever the fuck he wants. Which he obviously cannot but that’s what their “Logic” says. So if Biden cancels student debt and declares abortion legal and takes all the guns and institutes literal communism (because you know, he’s a *Communist* and not just a milquetoast centrist neoliberal) it’s all fair because he’s the president and they can do just yeah whatever they want.

I hope I have the pleasure of outliving Trump. I imagine it will be such a genuine joy to wake up the next day and take a deep breath of air I no longer have to share with that absolutely worthless entitled racist lazy cruel pathetic golf-cheating business-destroying treason-committing America-defiling diaper-wearing sack of shit.

  28. Like I said on another thread involving this: if Trump’s argument is legitimate, then it means that every four years, we elect someone to essentially be a one-person Purge for four years. They can commit any number of crimes and kill any number of people, consequence-free. If you’re elected, you can mount a battering ram made out of chainsaws to the front of a Chevy Suburban, stick some flamethrowers to the sides, and turn any building without bollards into a drive-through, because that’s your prerogative as the Commander in Chief of the free world.

Or maybe, and here’s a crazy thought… actions… have consequences… even for Presidents. Trump needs to learn how to read, log onto Reddit, and read that sentence until he understands it. No one gets a free pass to the all-you-can-crime buffet. There is always a price to be paid for your actions. And Trump is past-due and about to be sent to collections.

  29. I cannot believe that this absolute tool has a four year-old’s understanding of presidential powers, even after the dumb sonofabitch spent four long years in the job.

  30. chump is so stupid, he thinks the Constitution names him personally in being immune from any crime.

  31. You mean to tell me you can’t even do a coup and subvert democracy even when you lose , get thrown out of office and try to violently hold onto power?? I can’t believe this shit…Next you will tell me selling classified documents is illegal /s

  32. So he’s saying it would be okay for Biden to just go ahead and lock him up?

  33. He “fucked around”. Now let’s work to help him “find out”:)

  34. His lawyers better get severely punished if they say anything like this shit in court.
