There is literally nothing that conservatives hate more than policies that actually help the American people succeed and get by in their day to day lives. It reduces stress, gives people an opportunity to take care of their basic needs and that gives them a chance to start examining other things in life that are fucked up. There is nothing more damaging to Republic ideology than people having the time and energy to pay attention.
Gotta keep those poors poor so they keep joining the military. Who needs strong healthy kids when you can have sickly ones with no other options…
Have to be a major POS to argue for kids to starve
I’m going to guess that red states will mess this up.
Think how many great things we can do as a country without the damaging impact of Right Wing (Confederacy Ideological) Modern Day Republicanism.
Not only could we feed all school kids, we’d be able to provide them the 21st century tools, of laptops and classrooms with smart boards, and reinstate the liberal and cultural programming, such as 4H *and etc*. all schools would have Band’s and the whole spectrum of sports programs, not just basketball and football.
Kids should not have to pay to participate in any program the public schools offer.
I’m all for “school uniforms”… because schools is not a “fashion parade”. (There’s a reason our military gives everyone the same uniform, its take the **fashion ego** out of it). We raise kids with too much focus on “costuming of I can out dress you”, “or I’m more wealthy than you”.
We could shut down the image bullying that comes along with “designer clothes fashion styling”….
We claim to be the wealthiest nation, and treat our schools like we are a nation of paupers and greed driven envious bigots.
Go back to Teacher’s dressing for their classroom like “business professional adults”.
And spend the funds to make the public campuses among the cleanest and best well maintained facilities in the nation.
* Our problem as a society is we never got over the malice based idiocy of separate but equal social and civic disaster it created.. *Jim Crow Segregation ended 59 yrs ago. and Brown v Board of Education was won back in 1954, 69 yrs ago….!!!*
We need to get over this ignorance of trying to recreate 1950’s Censorship… Every student needs to know the trutful history of America, that includes the good, the bad and the indifferent, as well as the atrocities. We can’t push falsehoods by denialism and omission, and claim we are a nation of honest enlightened people.
We can’t continue acting like pre-teen and teens don’t know that sex exist. All people are doing is appeasing their own Victorian Era Sexual Ignorance. Then wonder why kids don’t get a broader understanding of the nature and reality and the subsequences and well as the consequences of irresponsible sexual indulgences.. Then, they can make their choices from an informed knowledge base. because they are going to make choices anyway, so its far better for them to be knowledgeable, and with knowledge they are better equipped to not make callous life impacting choices, based on lack of knowledge. *When they understand the Responsibilities, that can and does come with sex, they also will know that they are not in a position to handle those responsibilities. Fear tactics have never worked…. only “knowledge and understanding, and we will have a society that understand better the impact on their life that irresponsibility entails.*
It’s wild that there even exists ‘school lunch debt’ in this fuckin country. Let the kids eat. Law requires them to be in school, maybe feed them if their attendance is mandatory. Not like they can eat at home if they have to be there.
Team 1: All children should have food.
Team 2: If Timmy wanted to eat he should have chosen better parents.
The popular conservative “government bad” sentiment is a thinly veiled anti-democratic one. What do you think government is? It’s not a static entity, but one that is comprised of elected officials that the citizens have a say in voting in or out depending on their performance in regulating activities and taking care of the people.
Why have Republicans spent decades shit-talking it alongside a self-fulfilling prophecy of choosing to not properly govern? Aristocratic domination, not democracy, has been their fundamental imperative. A dogmatic agenda to “shrink the size of government” is about transferring the above responsibilities from the most democratic entity available to us to one managed and distributed by a group of aristocrats in the private sector.
The modern GOP and its allies have inherently been an anti-democratic coalition to begin with. Free-market fundamentalism and demonizing the government as some abstract, evil, and/or ineffective entity has just been used as disguise for that. Now, the cat is out of the bag with the GOP’s openly anti-democratic rhetoric and actions in late-stage form now.
If only we didn’t have a republican party to fight for disgusting shit like this.
If you’re against kids eating for free then you’re just a piece of shit. Funny how’s it the “save the children” folks who fight it. Like it doesn’t matter how good something is and makes everybody’s life better, some dingus will always fight it. For no reason except to be an asshole.
Grew up poor. Never had lunch money, so no breakfast, no lunch and lucky to have simple dinner. School was impossible on an empty stomach. I ended up quitting school at 13. Maybe they should not punish kids for being poor.

School should come with a lunch for everyone
