  1. Their language is dying because they prefer to speak Russian instead. Despite EU/Romania and Turkey pumping money into them to keep their language and culture alive.

  2. I’d love to see more people making an effort to revive local languages. With no need for separatism or anything.

  3. >The rise of Moldovan nationalism alarmed minority groups like the Gagauz, which mostly spoke **Russian**

    Well well well

  4. > “Our language is dying and within two or three generations it will be dead,” Mr. Zanet, 65, said in an interview in Comrat, the capital of his home region of Gagauzia, an autonomous ethnic enclave in the former Soviet republic of Moldova.

Good. You don’t speak a different language, but a dumbed down flavour of russian and you’re been using it for the pas 30 years as a weapon to suck multiple Russians and Turkish dicks to found your lunacy.

I had this year the unfortunate experience to live for a few weeks in Comrat and because I spoke Romanian and I did it without a Moldovan accent people would refuse service or be dicks, in coffee shops and restaurants, in supermarkets or hotel employees would mutter “can’t understand” in a broken russian with a visible disgust or ignore you, this goes for all Romanian speaking in this region. I did love them calling me names like 5 year old kids, thinking that I can’t understand or speak russian and speaking back in russian just to fuck them.

There we some that didn’t speak romanian when inquired in Romanian they replied a broken romanian, some even after I told them to speak in russian, I do appreciate the effort as is the national language, but the outright xenophobia in some is mind boggling …

  5. Es wäre so einfach, wenn ist nur one language остался на Земле. I want to speak and understand every mfker on this planet.

  6. Some people here do not take into consideration soft powers. If people speak eg. russian, they will rely on russian speaking media outlets. It’s true for any language. And what gets reported every day on the news varies so much depending on language. I don’t even mean propaganda, just everyday things: do media outlets focus on nature, economics, sports?
