The Democratic governor said that while he supports “new opportunities to address mental health through psychedelic medicines like those addressed in this bill,” the state needs to establish regulations for the use of these substances before they are legalized.
If he wasn’t planning on running for President in the future I bet he would have signed this.

Heres a fantastic example of how veto power SHOULD work. Bill gets passed and ready to sign in to law, and instead of it being a foregone conclusion or formality like a lot of popular bills tend to be. Hes instead, deciding to be more wise and prudent on how a highly mind altering substance like this should roll out: complete with appropriate guidelines and recommendations. Thats not unreasonable at all. Next year, if they come back with the correct revisions it will get passed. Hes not shooting down the idea, he just wants to make sure its rolled out safely.
Just remember before you go clutching your pearls, folks: Decriminalization and legalization are two different concepts.
