  1. > The final self-inflicted nail in McCarthy’s coffin came on Sunday, the day after the House passed a continuing resolution to extend government funding through 17 November and avert a federal shutdown. House Democrats overwhelmingly supported the stopgap funding bill, with just one member voting against it, but 90 House Republicans opposed the legislation.

    > And yet, when McCarthy appeared on CBS News’ Face the Nation on Sunday, he attempted to blame Democrats for the last-minute scramble.

    > “I wasn’t sure it was going to pass. You want to know why? Because the Democrats tried to do everything they can not to let it pass,” McCarthy said. “They did not want the bill. They were willing to let government shut down, for our military not to be paid.”

McCarthy helped to unite the Democrats with his hubris. Imagine thinking, I can just publicly blame them and then expect their support.

    > House Democratic leaders played a clip of McCarthy’s interview during their Tuesday morning caucus meeting, just hours before the chamber’s vote on removing the speaker. McCarthy’s comments outraged Democrats, fortifying the caucus’s resolve to support the motion to vacate.

  2. This guy is so full of shit. The continuing resolution was not the same thing that Democrats wouldn’t support. Democrats have always said they support continuing resolutions. It was their funding bills that would have gutted the US government they didn’t support. McCarthy knows this and this type of bullshit should open you up for removal from office.

  3. Chaos and dysfunction are easy. Governing is difficult. The MAGA party has made its choice and the country will suffer.

  4. Did CBS face the nation push back on that statement as he made it?

  5. Here we plainly see the two sides of US politicians in their natural state.

On the left, a group of adults, earnestly trying to legislate and improve the quality of life for their constituents.

On the right, an unruly band of excrement-throwing nihilists, desperately clawing for more power for themselves at the expense of their electorate, whom they actively exploit and disparage at every opportunity. All while falling in goose-step with their criminal and traitorous MAGAssiah, who epitomizes hatred, vitriol, and dishonesty, crowning himself the undisputed king of delusional despots.

A reminder to every American with a functional frontal lobe: Register to vote, and then VOTE. While we still have the right to do so.

  6. McCarthy’s not exiting he’s staying the length of his term

  7. Democrats want to fix Social security.

Republicans want to cut and end social security.

Democrats want to defend a woman’s right to choose.

Republicans want to end a woman’s right to choose.

Democrats support the working class and unions.

Republicans want to keep wages low and eliminate unions.

Democrats are trying to deal with the climate crisis.

Republicans are actively opposing what would fix the climate crisis.

Democrats want a single payer system or universal health.

Republicans want to end Medicare and Medicaid.

These are just a few of the glaring differences in the policies of the two parties.

There are elections in 30 days, vote. Show the republicans your displeasure at local and state elections this year.

Call your representative and let them know that you want them to fund social security, food assistance and other social programs not cut them. Let them know you want to protect a woman’s right to chose and to protect minorities and the LGBTQ communities from discrimination not make it legal. Tell them to stop campaigning through legislation and do there jobs. Call your state representatives and tell them the same thing.

  8. Jeffries for speaker so the country can get back to solving problems.

  9. To be fair, it’s pretty easy to coalesce around defeating such vile opponents.

  10. There was a time when Will Rogers quipped, “I do not belong to an organized political party. I’m a Democrat.”

    How times have changed.

  11. It only took the Dems long enough. Why is it so vague on how they united.

  12. The republican party is imploding, and Trump will burn it down if he becomes speaker.

  13. What are the chances that the radically insane ultra conservative maga wingnuts break off from the Republican Party, form their own disjointed, band of creatures lead by Matt Gaetz to spite the Republican majority in the house? Feels like anything goes these days.
