Whats the option here? How do you evacuate millions of people out of Hamas infrastructure which is purposefully intertwined with the citizen’s lifeblood?? People who sometimes refuse to move evacuate after a roof knock? A ground offensive would be utterly unchartered I’m trying to work out if these hostages have been taken as a bargaining chip or human shields?? Which are now apparently secured in underground tunnels. Yet Hamas even in rhetoric show a desire for ground offensive. Batshit, everything about it.
In the sense of a formal legal act, a country cannot declare war on something that is not a country.
However, of course they can still engage in military act (with or without a formal declaration of war).
Maybe in this context this is a legal step they need to complete to allow specific powers.

Such a shame, half the people in these threads are supporting genocide against Palestinians as revenge for the terrorism, a lot of people are talking about flattening Gaza and murdering all people there because they are supporting Hamas or are Muslim.

There’s going to be a massive wave of Palestinian refugees when this is over. Oddly enough, the same people who are so pro-Palestinian will probably refuse to allow Palestinian refugees into their country, as they have refused for decades.
Israel objective should be clear: rescue hostages, destroy Hamas infrastructure, take out Hamas leadership.
Stop all monetary flow. Tighter blockade. Only internationally recognised associations like UN, MSF etc should be allowed humanitarian aid. That too only in material aid and not funds (cause they would be stolen by Hamas anyway)
Run clear communications to Gaza residents: as long as Hamas doesn’t surrender military action would take place. Americans used to airdrop shit ton of pamphlets during WW2 do something similar.
Basically make it clear to Palestinians that unless Hamas surrenders and breaks up they should expect military intervention.
What were people expecting? If this happened in your country you would expect to be at war.
If it were mine the headlines would read about article 5, not sure if Isreal has any such deals.
