  1. Aw shucks, we really want to help but we’re all tapped out after you ran us out of that ancient shithole.

  2. Looks like the radical Muslim terrorist community officially pissed off God…

…oh wait, hold on: this just in, false alarm, apparently natural disasters are only proof that magic sky daddy is pissed when it happens to other people.

  3. 2000 people killed, hospitals all full and over 1000 houses destroyed and it’s October, there’s no way this people will get a new place to live in time for winter, if ever. A disaster.

  4. When men are too afraid to fight and let Taliban in charge this is what happens, it’s on them, they had plenty of support and help during two decades only to give it away in two weeks time.

  5. Some of these comments show the pure islamophobia. These are innocent civilians dying due to a natural disaster. It would all be “pray for Afghanistan” if it was a Christian/jewish white nation

  6. They don’t want the west there, so I fail to see why we should do anything.

  7. Man. Back in the day, this would have been seen as a sign from God that they have angered him and should repent…

…I just wish his aim was better. These people were innocent.

But perhaps God is simply nearsighted. It would explain a lot.

  8. There’s absolutely nothing to say any of these people are involved with Hamas, painting everyone in a religion with the same brush is incredibly dumb. Everyone in the comments should be ashamed, these are innocent lives lost and affected by a natural disaster, it’s tragic. Get a grip and look at yourselves

  9. Western media: Worst casualties ever in Israel and Palestine.

    Nature: Hold my beer

  10. Man it’s interesting to see the differences between infrastructure, I don’t know if Afghanistan is a sismic zone or this was some extraordinary event, but in México we just had a 6.0 earthquake last friday, no casualties and some small damages there and there.

Edit. It was confirmed to be 6, 6.3 was the preliminary report, but still.

  11. This sub has gone absolutely nuts. The comment section has become a complete cesspool…

  12. Deaths from earth quakes are usually much higher post earth quake due to failed infrastructure making necessary supplies hard to deliver.

  13. I dont understand how a 6.3 magnitude quake caused the death of so many people

I’ve lived through multiple 5/6 magnitude and a single 6.9 magnitude. It dealt damages, sure. But not this severe

    What happened?

  14. I agree with the answer most ppl have here but am horrified at the work done to get there. Most ppl who died are just regular ppl trying their best in life in a really shitty situation.

Private charities in the west should absolutely help. The us govt should not. Not bc afghanistanis don’t deserve the help but bc you then start getting into justification territory. “We should go over and help after an earthquake” quickly morphs into “Well this dictator is kinda like a natural disaster.” and then “the ppl have elected a communist we gotta occupy further”. You need to have firm boundaries and one is america needs to stop interfering with other countries both to help and hurt bc truly there is no way of knowing if your help is helping in the long term.

  15. The western world tried to help, Afghanistan didn’t want it.

    Good luck.

  16. Why are you guys being cruel this is civilians who are being affected put aside your politics and be like a human and feel compassion for the affected people they didn’t chose this fate

  17. Allah really doing a number on the Middle East lately, sad.

  18. Well, I think the important question here is. How are those poppy fields?

  19. As if we didnt have enough tragedies… God is a sick SOAB

  20. I’m sure their local taliban representatives will be along shortly to offer assistance
