  1. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., hopes Republicans can formally vote in a new speaker of the House sooner rather than later so lawmakers can address Hamas’ deadly attack in Israel.

Jeffries said during an appearance on CNN Sunday that he expects “additional appropriations” in the future for more funding for Israel as they deal with a series of attacks by Hamas.

The attack has resulted in the deaths of at least 600 Israeilis. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Sunday U.S. officials are looking to confirm reports that multiple Americans are dead or missing in Gaza. “Our commitment to Israel’s security is ironclad,” Jeffries told CNN’s Dana Bash.

Pressed on whether the lack of an actual House speaker will hold up any future actions on Israel or other issues, Jeffries said he hopes Republicans can end their “civil war.” “It’s my hope that my Republican colleagues get their act together,” he said.

  2. Now I want the speakership to be delayed as long as humanly/fiscally possible.

Israel is a 1st world country, they can afford to wage war themselves

Let’s get to that 100th ballot people!

  3. Well now that a Democrat said it, (R)s won’t. Instead, they’ll throw a tantrum and focus on an issue that no one could care less about.

My guess is, someone used Splenda instead of real sugar in their coffee, and that’s un-American.

  4. They’re not going to. They don’t need a speaker. Because they don’t intend to govern. They’re only there to stop government from functioning. There will be no speaker.

  5. I’m eager to see how Republicans will justify wanting to send aid to Israel, but not Ukraine…

  6. Republicans are in a jam. They need to support Israel because their rabid Evangelical base believe the Bible requires it. However, Hamas is openly supported by their ally Putin, and secretly supported by Trump ally MbS, who is getting a lot of blow back for trying to normalize relations with Israel, and may never have been dealing in good faith to begin with.

  7. Are democrats being obtuse? Wtf? Republicans are not here to help, only to slow government down or stop it outright. Democrats need to get THEIR act together.

  8. Pedantic demagoguery eaten up. Mangia Mangia mangia!!!! 💩

  9. All I know about that Jeffries guy is he won’t stop texting me. And I’m not giving money to nobody.

  10. The fact that it only took 8 republicans to oust McCarthy tells me that there’s a good chance Jeffries can get speakership if he could find a couple moderate republicans.

  11. The Republicans have proven time and again that they can’t be counted on to do anything, let alone the right thing.

  12. And by address they mean prop up Israel… AGAIN like they do every time. The entire Israel/Palestine conflict is a MULTI-generational failure of diplomacy. It is lamentable that a single-state or two-state resolution was never pushed by either the US or the UN. It’s almost as if warhawks and zionists have an agenda that requires war and death. All the while more innocent civilians will continue to suffer for this failure.

Are we now about to punish Palestinian civilians for the actions of a group of extremists? Because if nothing is done Israel will accelerate their brutal occupation

  13. No coincidence this happened when Congress is paralyzed. Again, Republican negligence allowing bad actors to threaten American interests.

  14. Democratic Socialist Party responded by hosting a pro-palestine rally in Times Square. Remember this when Omar, Talib, Bush, and AOC come up for re-election

  15. GOP get its act together? Why start now? As with every other single issue for the past 6 or 7 years, the conflict in Israel will be used as a political tool for whatever assclownery they have ‘planned’ for next.

  16. I would rather Republicans get their act together to help America, than because of anything to do with a foreign country. Just saying….
