  1. And we will never know why his position will radically change tomorrow

  2. Romney supposedly wrote (they talked about it on MSNBC) politicians in the GOP supported Trump because they couldn’t afford the security cost if they didn’t and Romney said he was able to vote against Trump (impeachment) because he had no issue spending thousands a day in security.

He said otherwise Trump would have been removed.

So, oddly, wealthier politicians could have saved democracy.

  3. I think there’s a tv show pitch in there. “Mr Speaker”, where he’s surrounded by actors like in jury duty.

  4. The only thing Trump would do is show up only to the state of the union and scowl the whole time. I guess that’s what they probably want.

  5. It would be pointless nonsense. Trump would just take the floor to talk about his personal life and complaints every day. That we’ve finally found the bottom too stupid for even our government to say yes is a good thing I guess.

  6. 10 top reasons the GOP says Trump wont be speaket of the house but he still might be, you won’t believe #4!

  7. If Trump was next in succession to the presidency after Harris, it would be a perfect set up for a coup.

It can’t happen here, until it does.

  8. That would be an embarrassment to downgrade from president to speaker

  9. For the record, there is no functional.difference between Trump being speaker and Jim Jordan being speaker.

  10. He simply doesn’t have the capacity or skill set.

  11. > “There’s no difference between Jim Jordan and Donald Trump being the Speaker of the House.”

    Strongly disagree.

While it might be something of an ideological push, that doesn’t factor in the eventual truth that Trump would have no idea how to actually serve as Speaker of the House.

Being House Speaker is ***a lot*** of work, and it would demand that the Speaker has even a middling grasp on a ton of administrative and procedural rules and norms, both important and trivial.

Trump could not do the job. And if he tried to do the job, it would be a disaster that would crater the GOP’s image as a major political party, even more than it already has cratered.

It would be like asking your two-year-old nephew to replace your car’s transmission, start-to-finish.

  12. It is enough of a clown show as it is without having the liar in chief show up to “officiate”.

  13. I remember when Republicans said they wouldn’t support him as president— until they all did.

  14. They keep saying that but considering their track record, they just haven’t figured out a way to sell it.

  15. With all this silly drama, it’s clear to me that all the pomp and circumstance about inflation and crime and migrants, etc aren’t really THAT important to the right-wing pols.

If they WERE actually important, they would not have devolved into chaos. What’s important to them is throwing a tantrum when they don’t get their way.

This is not unlike a family (GOP) going to a restaurant (America) and their kids (magahats) start screaming. The parents have no control over the situation and turn to the restaurant staff (democrats and liberals and independents/far left who caucus together) for help controlling said screaming kids.

At the end, restaurant staff do not help get kids under control as it it not their job to do so. Instead, parents are asked to either get their kids under control or leave.

Family leaves the restaurant and parents write a bad Yelp review saying staff ruined things by not getting them to calm the screaming kids down.

  16.

Donald Trump has Aphasia, DELD, or something similar and was carefully chosen by his sponsors to brainswipe The People.

Imagine, the world’s worst word salad whipping wastrel, as the speaker of The House.

  17. He doesn’t know how the government works. He doesn’t even know what the speaker of the house does.

  18. Of course, why bother when they can just choose Jim Jordan. Who was so instrumental in Jan 6 planning that Trump gave him the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

    Here’s Trump’s plan:

    * Get Jim Jordan in as speaker
    * Have him whip GOP caucus into refusing to certify Biden’s re-election
    * Toss the election to their purchased SC justices who will declare Trump dictator.

Will it work? Likely no. But it’s plan B after Janet got elected in Wisconsin. The original plan was to have Wisconsin SC throw the election to Trump

  19. He can’t speak. His house is being liquidated. Why is this even being discussed?

  20. Trump was never going to take a job that a. is lesser than the president and b. is an actual job

  21. Buck is a Republican. So beware: what he’s claiming now he will deny at the first opportunity if it so suits him.

But for real: as President the orange shitgibbon f*cked the nation up, do you *really want that moron as speaker?

  22. I hope he takes it, just so the job literally kills him
