Old KGB trick. The KGB worked together, both directly and indirectly with the Red Army Faction, but always made sure they used western weapons. The terrorists even trained on western weapons at a shooting range in the GDR.
That being said I suspect that the Russians only supplied the weapons here, the rest was probably the work of the Iranians and of course Hamas themselves.
