My daughter is studying abroad and won’t be back for Christmas, so I’m sending her a box of her favourite Christmas sweets, one of which is the Fudges & Strawberry delights from Quality Street. It’s too early to go to John Lewis to do their Christmas pick n mix (are they even doing it this year?) and I have to post the parcel soon, so I got 3 cartons for £6 from Iceland, to pick out her faves and package them up.
Out of 3 cartons I got 6 Strawberry ones (but despite the picture on the box they’re no longer round) and 5 Fudges, because one carton had an empty fudge wrapper. So I’ve basically paid £6 for 11 cheaply produced sweets. What a rip.
Anyway, thanks for letting me rant.

Nestle should really rename the product Street
>it ’s too early to go to John Lewis to do their Christmas pick n mix
If you googled this you would know its not
The lack of green triangles is upsetting…
Tip for anyone else in this situation: if you have a Cadbury outlet near you they do pick and mix Roses and you can get exactly what you like
People who actually like eating hard toffee… tell me about that. Why? How?
I refuse to eat this shit anymore, it just tastes of sugar and headaches to me these days.
I used to love them when I was a kid though, especially the coffee creams (RIP).
You did also get the sweets in the flavours which aren’t your daughter’s favourites, so it isn’t really fair to say you paid £6 for 11 sweets. You paid £6 to *get* those 11 sweets, but that’s because you chose to focus on one part of the sweet spectrum.
If the cheaply produced nature offends you, you need to introduce your daughter to classier confections.
You could do personalised ones in John Lewis where you customise your own mix:

However I think the quality of QS has gone down too far. They were such a Christmas treat when I was a kid, now they’re just too sugary and all a bit the same.
They where great at one point, way back at woolworths pic n mix, as you never had to pay for em.
Just give me all the orange ones, I’ll be fine.
If they did a full tub of orange and strawberry i would pay a handsome fee for that
Benefits Street
Those new wrappers suck too.
We got bags of Strawberry ones recently.
I avoid “Quality” Street like the plague these days. The smell reminds me of chemistry lessons, and they taste of middle-age disappointment.

No you paid £6 for 3 full cartons of randomly mixed sweets and were not lucky enough to get more of the ones you wanted. It’s delusional to not factor in everything else you got just because you don’t want them.
I’m just pissed they got rid of the toffee deluxe. I’d take that over the toffee penny any day.
My nan used to bring these from London, when she visited 40 years ago..I ordered a tin,and it was a tin of disappointment.Just awful, for a lot of money
Can’t edit my OP but you’re right, I didn’t pay £6 for 11 sweets, it just felt like I had. (Maths is not my strong point).
I will give a telling off to anyone who gifts me these. Wasting their money on this grit when they could buy me a fat Toblerone and a pack of tangtastics.
Last year you could buy a box of just the strawberry ones. I snapped one up.
Need to find them again.
It’s all sugary as fook and not in a good way IMO.
I actually think this is a pretty evenly distributed box, most people would be quite happy with that 😅
