  1. I think he knew. This level of fuck up and being in the dark is beneath Israeli intelligence

  2. Of course they did. This isn’t an intelligence breakdown, this was Bibi allowing this to happen to try to ensure he doesn’t go to jail and to give the ultra conservatives the war they have wanted for decades.

  3. Bibi’s in damage control mode after that kind of a colossal fuckup. Imagine what the Israelis would do to this guy when the dust settles. Of course he has to deny.

  4. Is there any independent verification for this story? It would be a very easy W for Egypt to lie about this.

  5. Haaretz posted that the Egyptians deny it as well.

Probably a fake to sow division.

  6. Because I’m sure he’d be the first to admit it. Regardless, he will eventually face the music for an embarrassing intelligence failure while he tried to dismantle democracy. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.

  7. I mean, I don’t trust Netanyahu at all.

    I don’t trust Egypt either… but I also don’t trust Netanyahu.

  8. There is no way the IDF didn’t know something was brewing. I believe they let it happen. Why? IDK my only guess has to do with occupying the Gaza Strip which is nearly what Israel has said it is about to do. If the IDF didn’t know then that is just as bad.

  9. There needs to be a serious untainted investigation when this is all over

  10. It really is like 9/11.

The US intelligence community was warned about something big coming and it involving planes months before 9/11 and brushed it off.

  11. ‘I’m not incompetent because I ignored a warning, I’m incompetent because our intel network didn’t hear anything at all about the biggest attack in 50 years!’

    Better, I guess?

  12. The only people who will benefit from this is Nentayahu and Hamas leadership. They prefer violence and division rather than peace. The civilians on both sides are the victims of two power hungry men.

  13. Doubt this. The “surprise” justifies Bibi raison d’etre to use might to eliminate Palestine. It baffles all credible world intelligence communities how strike of this size with months of planning went unnoticed. On this Egypt has the credible stance

  14. He was a liar before he was ousted and he’s a liar now. He is behind Hamas’ attack on Israel. He did this to prove to the anti-Netanyahu protestors that they need him. Just like Trump orchestrated the attack on our Capitol…Netanyahu is the Trump of the Middle East.

  15. He clearly knew. Israel has the most surveilled border on earth, and has debatably the best intelligence community on earth. We’re expected to believe that a bunch of 20-25 year old kids overcame that? Absolutely fucking not. Best case scenario israel knew and let it happen. Worst case scenario trump gave classified information to putin who then gave it to iran who then gave it to Hamas.

So either israel knew and let it happen or the USA betrayed israel. Which is it?

Edit : since conservatives likely never heard this news and can’t search the internet, here are sources:

    Also:

A document describing a foreign government’s military defenses, including its nuclear capabilities, was found by FBI agents who searched former president Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence and private club last month

  16. Apparently the WSJ didn’t warn Israel either. /s

  17. Nah. Israel can’t be proactive and neutralize those threats anyway because Palestine will play the victim even harder lol

Palestine: “Waaaa waaaa look at Israel they are attacking us first! We didn’t do anything! They killed those innocent Palestinian camping in the desert! Free Palestine!”

Imagine how hard it is for Israel to make these decisions. You be proactive and attack the threats before they do something and you are evil. You don’t do anything and let it happen you are still evil because why didn’t you bombed those threats?

  18. Egypt should open their border for Gaza refugees.

  19. I’d be curious to see what the international response would be if it really is the case Israel let this assault happen.

Obviously Hamas was the one to do the attack, but the Israeli government would essentially have the blood of their own citizens on their hands. If this is the case. And the ultimate goal of essentially a Casus Belli for war against Gaza, which seems like the most likely reason for allowing an attack, goes up in smoke.

Incompetence and mistakes can happen, but this level of complete blindness is too suspicious. Especially if a country like Egypt, who does not need more instability at their borders, essentially says they even knew and tried to warn Israel.

  20. Eh… Netanyahu would be motivated to lie about this if it were true. And Egypt, being the only other country sharing a boarder with Gaza, are very clearly highly motivated to make it clear to the world that they had been telling everyone who would listen that an attack was coming. I was hearing that they told US intelligence over the weekend, and now Israeli intelligence.

My assumption is that the truth lies somewhere in the middle. There must be an unending flow of warnings coming in about possible attacks. Some are real and are thwarted, some amount to nothing, and some are real and somehow get overlooked. Who knows, maybe they did know but thought they had more time and were monitoring the situation to track it back to a source and planned to shut it down before their planned start date.

    <shrug>

I’m not defending Netanyahu, or pointing the finger at Egypt. No matter what, this was either an intel failure by Israel, or something much more sinister (which there will be conspiracy theories around for decades).

I just feel like I understand why both sides are saying what they are saying, and I think that both of them can be telling a version of the truth.

I’m sure more will come out over time, like it has with 9/11.

  21. Netanyahu is same as Trump. Can’t trust as far as they can be thrown. They both need to be in jail!

  22. I believe they were warned. Especially after the sketchy interview with the Head of State who didn’t deny or confirm it. Seems like even the US knows something isn’t clean in the water.

  23. People really need to be more wary about any information coming out within a few days of an event. We see it time and time again – an avalanche of misinformation from every side doing nothing other than muddying the waters.

True or not, remain skeptical about any headlines you read. The fog of war will make any confirmations difficult at this time.

  24. Still the real question remains, how does the global leader in Intel and back door software not know this was coming?

  25. I mean not saying I’m an expert or anything but don’t you think a bunch of paragliders coming in from Gaza are a little sketchy? Like at least some sort of warning that airspaces. are being crossed.

  26. Egypt and Israel both have reasons to deny this though I’m not ruling out that this could be a nothing burger.

My government is facing some domestic issues at home and with the street always in support of Palestine regardless of the actors, this would be a bad look. Egypt also wants to continue being the mediator between Hamas and Israel.

Netanyahu and the intelligence community does not want to look like they committed a huge intelligence failure, on the anniversary of our attack in 1973 no less and after a previous border incursion by a rogue Egyptian border guard a few months ago.

Or maybe they are both right about the denials, will never know. But do know that Egyptian and Israeli intelligence agencies have a strong relationship formed especially to fight Daesh in the Sinai.

  27. “I’m not inept in addition to being a criminal!” says the man who is a criminal, and inept.
