  1. Of course this is a scam. No sane person would buy a car for 20k without seeing it in person.

Normally this scam works on Kleinanzeigen and with smaller items, but is seems that people try it even with cars.

  2. It’s a common scam. They let you think you get the money but later must pay a fee.
It’s like the Nigerian prince scam.

  3. They will fool you into thinking that they have made the transfer by using a faked screenshot, or make some claim about a third party holding the money and needing you to pay a fee etc. etc. The excuses are manyfold, but their goal remains the same – to make you pay something.

  4. Yes it’s a scam works like this:
They say they want to buy the car. It’s very urgent so they send some company to pick it up
but the money takes sometime to be transferred to you so they send u a screenshot of the transfer which is fake
so u gave away the car without receiving any money

  5. Why are you using WhatsApp?

Use the built-in messaging function on mobile.de which also sends copies to your mail account, and you can also reply with your e-mail via mobile.de.

Just a few days ago I helped a friend to put up an ad on mobile.de. The ad had been online for maybe one minute, BAM, message via mobile.de, I am paraphrasing here, “let us switch over to WhatsApp, as I am not always on mobile.de”, the person being displayed as “Shanice M”. Just reading the name, I laughed out loud, like, yeah, Black woman in Germany keen on buying that motorcycle, and immediately sending a message without having had the time needed to read the ad in full.

I was also aware of the “move the convo off the website” trick, so I wrote on behalf of my friend immediately “I do not converse on WhatsApp. All communication must be via mobile.de only”. Of course there was radio silence after, and when we checked back yesterday, “Shanice” had deleted their account.

Which made me realize that mobile.de doesn’t store YOUR replies in this case, I only had a copy of the scammer’s request via e-mail.

Therefore I think it’s safest to use mobile.de via your mail account or screenshot the convo when logged into mobile.de via web.

  6. Why the fuck does OP get downvoted in the Comments? Yes, tey are getting scammed, yes they are a little naive. But they are here for help and advice guys. Be better, goddamn.

  7. It is funny that you ask if this is a scam and when people confirm, you try to argue why it is maybe still legit.

  8. Ich schicke einen liefer – und abholservice. Der Liefer -und abholservice wird vorbei kommen. Der liefer- und abholservice wird jemanden vorbei schicken.
