Opposed to popular believe on reddit, the rise of the AfD in the last year is not mainly because of the southern migration crisis. It coincidences more with the war in Ukraine and our chaotic government.
That doesn’t mean migration (from the south and Ukraine) is not an issue, but it would be also futile to believe that a sudden drop in migration would revert their growth completely.
I think it’s obvious that today liberals collective do something WRONG that they fall in votes like card-house.

Most people voting for AfD must be protest voters. Just because nobody else dares to touch some painful questions.
Damage done by migration and unreasonable decisions in converting to green energy. If other parties cover this problems, populists wouldn’t score so much.
Germany is merely catching up with other european countries, where those parties are well established or even in power.

The rise of the AFD is mostly not because of migration. Yes it is a factor, but not the most important one.
1.The housing crisis. The german government built roughly 50 appartements this year. Yes 50. Thre housing crisis is now going since the first wave of refugees 2015.
And it only gotten worse. People have to understand, that the current ruling parties don’t want to solve the crisis, because a lot of politicians have huge money invested in appartments and houses and they are often landlords themselves.
The problem is simply, germany has a huge problem with its birthrate. And no, the google statistic is wrong. Because the german government does count EVERY person born here into the statistic.
The native germans themselves have a catastrophic birthrate. Because of this we NEED immigrants, but at the same time, the government don’t want to build houses.
And the investors want to make big money in the crisis aside from the very expensive building materials.
This leads to a lot of angry people here which can not even switch a job to another city anymore, because the rent would simply break their neck. As long as you don’t switch the appartement you are protected by law.
(Furthermore energy prices and the stupid “decaronization law” which makes the fuel more expensive EVERY YEAR by LAW!!!)
2. Arabization and islamisation of germany. No, this not happen because of the influx of reugees. We have way more refugees right now from the ukraine than from arab countries. BUT. As said before native germans have a very bad birth rate. While people with a muslim background have a relative stable birth rate here in germany.
Furthermore people have to understand, people with a muslim background like the turkish germans for example living in the third generation here voted for the green party most of the time. Because of the current agriculture minister Cem Özdemir which is belonging to the green party and who is a german turk.
But they have started to vote for the AFD too. Because of some VERY stupid and questionable decisions made by the green party. The green party of today is percieved by a lot of working class people as the “party of the rich or richer middle class”. A lot of people voting for the green party simply don’t have the same problems as most of the working class germans.
The AFD managed better to get this talking points across than SPD, the greens or FDP. It simply doesn’t help when you attack all eastern germans as ” Nazis” who are heavily struggeling economically now and are even more worse off than the western germans.
3.Reddit. Reddit is HEAVILY!!!! dominated by left, far far left and green party ideas views. It is an echo chamber on its own absolutely NOT represents most of the people in europe or germany.
Furthermore reddit is an US based platform. So have a lot of time people writing here from the USA which have absolutely NO CLUE!!! what is going on in germany or europe!!!
One of their leaders used to go on nazi marches and has been convicted for using nazi slurs. It’s disappointing to see everyday Germans vote for scum like this. I will be moving if they ever come to power here.
