Bpost just straight up admitting to stealing. Had an international package, so had to pay import fee + VAT. Address was wrong, so bpost returned it to sender. Now, they want to keep the $$$. I can maybe understand the “fee”-part, but give the VAT back, you have absolutely no right to keep that. WTF.

  1. Also, fuck their customer service that is only available through PHONE. It’s 2023, get on with the times. I want to email you and describe my situation, I dont want to stay on the phone for half an hour waiting on an agent to get free. I’m not even asking for live chat.

    Also, why the fuck is there an import fee in the first place? Import is mandated by the government. You mandate it, you pay for it. That’s what taxes are for.

  2. You can also demand the customs document, they are obliged to give you that (it’s your property) in case you want to recover any amount or whatever

  3. Wel, officieel is je pakket dan toch ook ingevoerd geweest? Is best kut, maar maar als je dingen invoert van buiten de EU, ook al stuur je ze daarna terug, dan betaal je die kosten nu eenmaal.

    Moest dit ‘teruggeven’ mogelijk zijn, vermoed ik dat hier veel fraude mee gepleegd zou kunnen worden. Want hoe controleer je zoiets?

  4. Why would they not have a right on the VAT? Your package was imported, that it’s now going back is irrelevant. It’s like saying a company has to reimburse shipping costs because you returned a package?

    International packages are more often than not shitty to deal with, it’s like that everywhere, better to just order from within the EU.
