Tim Pool was chatting with one of the project 2025 heritage goons today and it’s so apparent that the gop has drank the kool-aid. Like, they genuinely believe that they are going to be American heroes. I was kinda hoping that they were just larping but NOPE. They actually believe their own bullshit
GOP surrender to the whims of their billionaire fascist owners
Couldn’t have been much holding the gop up if trump was able to dismantle the whole thing in 4 years. What principles did they really have beyond personal greed and hunger for power?
This shit is straight out of a madmans mind. It’s fucking sick shit that only the fringe might have said out loud just a short time ago.
Now, suddenly, a whole bunch of Americans think shit like this is a good idea and are openly discussing the “best” way to implement it.
Fucking trump is not this smart, this is Bannon and Prager U and the federalist society all gunning for a chance to dominate “the libs” and trump gladly sucks it up and regurgitates to his kool-aid swilling followers.
It’s scary fucking shit.
The old right became the new right. They didnt leave, they got subsumed
We’re all gonna go to jail if we don’t go to church on Sunday.
If elected treasonous trump will be America’s Hitler
They haven’t surrendered to Trump, rather they saw what is possible when a President is not restricted by ethics and precedent. They saw what Trump was able to do even given his complete incompetence and have simply provided a road map to the next bumbling idiot that stumbles into the Presidency. The Heritage foundation will take the reigns of the government and allow whatever Republican that takes office to play emperor for a little while.
No, the last generation GOP that enabled this doesn’t get any absolution.
Their twisted politics led to this.
They are as much at fault, if not more so.
The next time there is a popular vote/electoral split we need to DEMAND a compromise like the
Compromise of 1877. ensure execution of this becomes completely impossible.
Kind of depends on how one defines “old Right.”
The Right originally emerged as the home of monarchists, aristocrats, and the ultra-religious. If anything, Project 2025 is a return to the roots of right-wing bullshit, marked by belief in a rigid hierarchy coupled with a disdain for democracy and the desire to concentrate power in the hands of a small group of people based solely on monetary and cultural status.
The neocons are gone, but it’s being led by the same Heritage Foundation as under Reagan. They said so themselves.
It’s less a surrender than an open embrace of their baser instincts.
>A key additional point about the hard right is that they don’t all want the same things. […] What really unites them is a fear and loathing of liberals specifically, and the modern world more generally.
I am reminded of a line from Iran. “The first generation couldn’t wait to live under Sharia law; the second generation couldn’t wait to live without it.”
Dobbs is a warning. If they actually implemented their policies, how quickly do you think they’ll fold once they realize those policies are objectively awful to live under? See if they can live for one year without “western decadence” or “secular” luxuries, like television, or liquor.
This isn’t Trump. He is just the front man no different to an actor hired to star in commercials. This is the product of the extremist business interests driving the party.
No one remember all the PNAC goons? They’re just adapting the playbook for home instead of overseas. Same GOP, just changing their target.
This was always the republican party’s plan. Trump gaining the presidency just accelerated it. The GOP hasn’t been about democracy since Nixon.
They could always vote democrat! I promise you, trans kids want absolutely nothing to do with you! You can still live life pretending that things were better 50 years ago (they weren’t, you were just a child with no responsibilities).
No, it’s the same right. Just no one has paid attention until now.
“The Imperial Senate will no longer be of any concern to us. I’ve just received word that the Emperor has dissolved the council permanently. The last remnants of the Old Republic have been swept away.”
I miss $2 gas
I’m watching The Handmaid’s Tale at the moment. It’s really disturbing how some real life stuff seems to mirror what led to Gilead.
