  1. The package includes Patriot, IRIS-T and Gepard air defense systems, weapons, armored personnel carriers, means and equipment for servicemen worth 20 million euros.

Also, in the next few weeks, 10 more Leopard 1A5 tanks will arrive in Ukraine.

  2. Until the invasion is completely over and in the past, Russia has shown that the only appropriate response to whatever they put in the sky over Ukraine *is putting it out of the sky.*

  3. Here’s my cynical assessment.

Germany won’t give Taurus missiles because that would help Ukraine win the war. There’s no actual threat of “escalation.” Britain already gave storm shadows and all that has done is just massively help Ukraine.

Germany is happy to give air defense and other defensive weapons to help protect Ukraine. Yes, thank you of course, but it won’t help Ukraine *win* the offensive.

Germany isn’t in a hurry to help Ukraine actually *win* offensively because it has massively benefitted from an influx of almost a million Ukrainian women and children. That is immense human capital for a country like Germany. And they hope to keep them.

Still, thank you for the air defense. And the tanks. They could have instead given us nothing.

  4. I wish most NATO nations would donate nearly all of their air defense to Ukraine right now. The chances of Russia launching any air attack against a NATO nation are virtually nil (and if Russia did, they’d get mightily stomped by Article Five), so there is relatively little NATO need for SAMs.

They could all go to Ukraine, and NATO would still be just as safe in terms of air defense as before.
