I live in the US and am trying to help a family member renew their Polish passport. The consulate in New York only lets you make appointments online and the PESEL number is one of the required fields.

The PESEL isn’t listed on the passport in the typical spot. Does anyone know where else it could be listed on the passport, if any?

I was unable to find it on their Polish birth certificate. This person immigrated to the US in the 80’s.

Polish passport was last issued at the consulate in New York in the early 2000’s.

  1. They most likely don’t have one. They’ll have to apply for one at the consulate.

    PESEL as we know it now has only been introduced in 1997.
