I get it, but is he suggesting any practical alternative to a siege? Hamas is not going to surrender, nor are they going to not use their civilians as human shields to protect militants and military infrastructure.
I’m genuinely asking, it seems people have lot’s of opinions of what not to do in Gaza but no solutions on what to do to eliminate Hamas.
Better title: „How many dead European citizens in Israel does it take for EU to stop funding Gaza?“
We got like 18 military police cars suddenly guarding the local synagogue (which already is hidden inside a building to avoid attention), sure tells something.
Thoughts and prayers man at it again? Maybe better just to ignore any statements he makes. They’re worthless anyway.
A balanced, nuanced take. I’m sure it will be well-received.
Borrel, a left-wing Spaniard, likely reflects domestic sentiment. Much like the “cut all funding” statement by Varhelyi reflected domestic CEE sentiment for Israel. The Commission needs to refrain from commenting much on this issue, as am sure strong mandates are not forthcoming from the Council on this.
I understand what he means, but what are Israelis supposed to do, they just saw 1000 citizens killed, babies mu*dered and b*headed, pregnant woman killed with their fetus on their side. Any country would go absolutely nuts on their enemy if something like this happened.
Ham*s just made an already bad situation into a literal horror movie hell for everyone involved. No one in the EU or the US would lift a finger when Israel goes full berserk mode on gaza. Hamas can’t be destroyed without destroying gaza.
Siege of gaza would be very bad for everyone, the EU would receive millions more migrants that are celebrating such attacks. The EU already has to deal with Russia.
As far as I know Israel still mostly employs tactics such as roof knocks and sms/call to the population in order to harm as little civilians as possible, even at the cost of letting terrorists get away. But yes, there’s going to be a tragedy for sure. I hope as much as possible of those hurt are Hamas and Hamas supporters.
Here is some info about what happened so far:
The death toll now estimated to be over 1,000. Most of the deaths are unarmed civilians. Many elderly, women, children. There are many more not accounted for.
In some towns the terrorists moved house to house murdering whole families. When they could not get into houses they burned them down, waiting for the residents outside.
Elderly corpses lying on bus stations face down, some were kidnapped, along with mothers and their babies. Roads filled with cars sprayed down, whole families dead inside. And much more. The horror doesn’t end with Hamas.
Not enough evidence gets out. Social media censors it together with mass reports by Hamas sympathizers and a lot of disinformation denying the horrible crimes. We have the evidence, we can’t post them anywhere without posts removed or accounts banned. I have some materials if anyone wants to DM me and see Hamas’s true face.
I am doing my best to share what happened. But no words can really describe it.
It’s important for the EU to not support extreme positions in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that would disregard the humanity of either side. There’s millions of Muslims or other people in the EU that feel deep connection with the Palestinian cause and who have to be represented, just as there are millions more in the EU’s neighbourhood. But there are also important links with Israel and the US with which the EU shares many values and views. EU has to take a balanced approach to this issue that would acknowledge basic human rights and legitimate interests of both Israelis and Palestinians to not alienate either. Favorizing either side and supporting either’s extreme position would not serve EU well.
International Law doesn’t exist.
Israel also violated the UN resolution (and international laws) from the 1947 and expanded into Palestinian territories starting in 1967. Also in 2016 the resolution N.2334 formally asked Israel to stop and fulfill the obligations from the Fourth Geneva Convention.
That being said I am NOT justifying NOR Hamas and Palestine NOR Israel.
Edit: pain does not justify other violence, that’s the point.
Edit 2: as I was saying a few hours ago the problem is much more difficult to solve: the problem began when Britain had the British mandate of Palestine and when the first UN resolution decided to create a Nation in a territory that was not only populated by one ethnic group. The matter got worse after the start of settlement in east Jerusalem and even worse after Hamas got to power.
I am not a historian, that was my own knowledge so please do not be rude, I will ignore you.
That may be true but what does he think Israel should do? They can’t sit idly by and let terrorist get away with killing hundreds of its soldiers and civilians and causing millions of dollars in damages. It simply can’t that’s just ridiculous…
This is what happens when you step anyway from your responsibility to lead the world.
This is all classic EU. No leadership, one says we are going to stop funding Palestine, the other says we’ll increase funding. We have no seat at the table, exert zero influence, yet all the negative consequences (refugees, terrorist attacks) will be for us. And next time? We’ll have learned nothing and do it all over again.
That’s nice.
But international law is what the U.S says, and not what some documents say.
Power is everything, so complain all you want. But, aslong as the US has Israels back on this, complaints are all it’s ever going to be.
Does he mean the palestinians, who spit on the dead, raped, mutilated body of the german girl or beat a child to death with sticks?
Also water is wet.
So is Hamas. That’s the world we live in.
Kill or be killed. Israelis will pick themselves over them.
Maybe egypt can arm some palestinian exiles to tople Hamas and bring in new managment. Untill then Israel has no reason to negotiate with Hamas for anything.
At what point do you accept that this is war?
And war is fought to win not to please lefties
Fuck around and find out why so many people support you
And so the cycle repeats. After 9/11 the US invaded Iraq and created ISIS. Decisions need to be in time and long term. There is too much emotion about right now, understandably. All overreaction creates is death and future terrorists.
>Mr Ben Zion said Hamas gunmen who **killed families, including babies** were “just a jihad machine to kill everybody, [people] without weapons, without nothing, just normal citizens that want to take their breakfast and that’s all.”
>Some of the victims, he said, were decapitated.
>”**They killed them and cut some of their heads**, it’s a dreadful thing to see… and we must remember who is the enemy, and what our mission is, [for] justice where there is a right side and all the world needs to be behind us.”
Borrells complaining because Israel is no longer supplying Gaza with electricity?
What about the EU citizens who were murdered Borrell?
Did Hamas follow international law when they beheaded a few dozen babies?
40 children slaughtered and beheaded in Kfar Aza. This is all I have to say on the matter.
So many European governments have pick me vibes. Gross.
I’m all in for retaliating to Hamas, but cutting water and electricity will not provide any military gains, cause hamas probably has some water, food and generators for themselves.
Sorry, i name of the few sane spaniards, im really sorry.
You reap what you sow. I hope by the end of this there will be no more “Palestine”.
One side committing war crimes doesn’t excuse or justify the other side committing war crimes. How hard is that to understand for so many?
No shit, they’ve k*lled around 6000 palestinians in the last 15 years, a 25 TO 1 RATIO of the amount of dead Israelis, why would they stop now?
And before you start shouting at me, no I don’t think what Hamas is doing is good, quite the opposite: they’re doing quite a few crimes against humanity, mass murders etc too.
The point is that they’re not even close to the level of the apartheid state of Israel

There are horrible things such as footage of a family where the terrorists have [murdered](https://www.reddit.com/r/Destiny/comments/172x3tj/israeli_mother_covers_the_head_of_her_child_on/) one of the 3 kids in front of the rest of the family and kidnapped the survivors. Endless more similarly horrifying stories.
Parents are still identifying the bodies of their children from videos Hamas took stomping on their corpses. People are [learning](https://www.reddit.com/r/Palestinian_Violence/comments/174jys0/imagine_learning_your_relative_died_like_this/) how their relatives died from Hamas uploading pictures and videos of their corpses to their Facebook page.
Hamas is [parading](https://www.reddit.com/r/Palestinian_Violence/comments/172hscy/shani_louk_30_yearold_german_citizen_she_went_to/) the corpses of innocent half naked women through the streets. To be spat on by the crazed mob.
There are estimations of some 40+ dead babies [killed](https://www.reddit.com/r/Palestinian_Violence/comments/174ouk4/an_israeli_childs_blood_stained_crib_discovered/) mostly in point blank range. This is only from a single town where the police and military could go house to house and check for corpses already.
Reporters have finally made it into towns and are [describing](https://www.reddit.com/r/Palestinian_Violence/comments/174lgzl/reporting_on_hamass_atrocities_whole_families/) horrible atrocities and non stop finding of bodies in homes.
Yet celebrations are happening all over the world. Both in Palestinian territories like in [Nablus](https://www.reddit.com/r/Palestinian_Violence/comments/172ks18/massive_party_today_in_nablus_celebrating_the/) and [Hebron](https://www.reddit.com/r/Palestinian_Violence/comments/172lh9y/palestinian_celebrations_in_hebron_from_earlier/) but also in [Sweden](https://www.reddit.com/r/Palestinian_Violence/comments/1738nsp/death_toll_over_750_israelis_mostly_innocent/), [Canada](https://www.reddit.com/r/Palestinian_Violence/comments/17316rq/propalestinians_celebrating_hamass_massacres_of/), [London](https://www.reddit.com/r/Palestinian_Violence/comments/172u5gu/celebrations_in_london_tonight/), and many [states](https://www.reddit.com/r/Palestinian_Violence/comments/1737cfp/while_death_toll_in_israel_climbs_to_over_700/) around the US.
