When you saw a fried egg on toast for €12 on the menu and you ordered it, what were you expecting?
Bean supply chain is fukt!
That’s a perfectly fried egg though
The new environmental charge on fart producing foods kicked in from 1st of Jan.
Jaysus, wouldn’t cost that much for a full loaf a full tin of beans and a dozen eggs.
More fool you for buying that shite.
The problem is: you paid it.
Nice plate though.
Where?
You pay for the location not so much the product.
Minimum bean pricing
Where?
Looks fancy, almost 6 beans there too
Are they magic beans Jack
Jaysus. How many units of alcohol are in it?
You pay extra for the added arty farty.
It’s full of people who’d pay €12 for that.
T’wouldn’t fill the holes in my teeth. Madness.
This sort of pricing is happening in a lot of sectors. It feels like they’re trying to make up for lost revenues from when they were forced to close. Just refuse to be part of the cycle & don’t pay those prices. These gouging businesses will close and they will not be missed. Some people will lose jobs but new businesses will always reopen to take their place and new jobs created.
You probably passed 10 reasonably priced restaurants before choosing this pretentious cafe
Going by the fact that the OP is refusing to name the place, added to the fact that I’ve never seen a marble table at a restaurant and the way this picture is lit, I’m calling bullshit.
OP made this themselves, took a picture on their kitchen counter and posted here knowing that r/ireland loves little better than complaining about the prices of things, especially in Dublin.
Edit: he did name the place eventually, looks like a place to avoid.
It has swirly sauce. €12 justified.
In Northern Spain at the moment. I got 4 tapas and 2 coffees yesterday for €7.80.
The order consisted of;
Crab+Samlon on toast
Bowl of Chirzo+mashed potato
Potato Bravas
Roasted green peppers.
This was at Pog. I used to love the idea of brunch when more and more brunch places started popping up across Dublin in the past 6 years, and Pog was one of my favourites, especially for their pancakes.
Sure brunch is always overpriced if you look at the price of the ingredients only and I understand you also pay for the location, experience, service etc., and I am willing to pay more for all of the above, but one slice of bread with beans and one egg…
Especially when you consider there’s no protein (ham, salmon) which is usually what increases the price of the dish.
And yeah, sucker for paying that much and the menu did say how much (euro not portion size) it was, but I doubt any of you would send it back and walk out after seeing the portion they bring you.
