lol they’re in good company between Australia and all the far left groups here in the USA like Black Lives Matter, which were vehemently protesting for Palestinians a few days ago in nyc.
As if Melanchon was ever going to criticize Hamas.
Well, he might, but only for their not being antisemitic or genocidal enough.
Funny that they’re basically refuse to condemn the far right political group
Horseshoe theory?
The tolerance for this kind of radical Islamist terror organisation and ideology will be the end of france.

[ Any Developed European Nation ] Far [ Any side of the political spectrum ] = [Russian Active Measures](https://youtu.be/tR_6dibpDfo?si=7FrSqH64W6RdMgzS)
All existing extremist watering holes are awash with Russian propaganda, manipulation & political paralysis inducing money, and it is safe to assume they are extensions of the Russian governent.
They are exploitable, and most if not all have been as a result exploited.
Should get together with the far right those types love random murdering as well! Just a party called “far” and send them onto a one way trip to space.
I don’t support Israel’s unchecked expansion and apartheid rules, but I also don’t support degenerate terrorists who deliberately kill non combatants in the most callous and cowardly way.
It’s possible to dislike what both sides are up to here. One helped create the monster… and the monster made a choice to further degrade itself into a total abomination.
This is not cop-out “centrism” where you half agree with each side. Our positions don’t always have to be placed on a one dimensional line. There are other places you can stand which absolutely despise the actions of both.
I’m a pretty staunch lefty, and I believe this is the correct leftist view. That’s an opinion though. A feature of the left is while we might share a bedrock ethic… our models of the world can be drastically different.
For context, since the article doesn’t actually give the statement that LFI (France Unbowed, the far-left coalition) actually released, here it is via translation:
“Israel-Palestine: for a just and lasting peace, stop the escalation!
The armed offensive by Palestinian forces led by Hamas comes against a backdrop of intensifying Israeli occupation policies in Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem. We deplore the Israeli and Palestinian deaths.
Our thoughts are with all the victims. The current escalation risks leading to a hellish cycle of violence.
France, the European Union and the international community must act without delay to prevent this escalation.
In the immediate term, we must obtain a ceasefire and the protection of the population.
All parties must return to the negotiating table.
For a just and lasting peace to emerge, UN resolutions, starting with the end of settlement, must be actively implemented.
We must all work to this end.”
To me, this…looks like they DID condemn Hamas’ actions? And like it might be that Politico (which is owned by a wealthy right-wing German) and the French right are flipping their shit over nothing?
No different from some “revolutionary” subs right there on reddit…
Every country has a right to defend them self including Palestine!
So basically what the western world has been doing with Israel for the past 20 years?
70% of Muslims in France vote him. He knows his target audience.
so far i’ve seen people label any criticism of israel’s actions that created this situation as “supporting hamas” and any leftist says what hamas is doing is bad and that hamas themselves is bad, so this doesn’t really hold weight.
HIs party refused to condemn the attack, if you don’t count the Twitter statement that, translated via Google, says…
>The armed offensive by Palestinian forces led by Hamas comes in a context of intensification of the Israeli occupation policy in Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem. We deplore the Israeli and Palestinian deaths. Our thoughts are with all the victims. The current escalation risks leading to a cycle of hellish violence. France, the European Union and the international community must act without delay to prevent this spiral.
So they refused to condemn the attack only if you think condemnation of Palestinian civilian deaths negates condemnation of Israeli civilian deaths.
Oh, and that escalation stuff? US army manual fm 3-24 agrees with them. Violence begets violence.
Edit: I deleted and reposted this after catching that his successor, not him, posted this. She is the leader of his party now, which may be why he is silent.
It’s insane how all of a sudden everyone he has forgotten the crimes against humanity Israel has been committing. Apparently murdering kids and women is allowed for some.
What is it with far left people supporting Hamas. This is crazy.
should we condemn Ukrainians for their brutal attacks on Russia ?
Amazing watching politicians torch themselves in the West by failing the most basic test of decency.
Same with all these folks protesting for Palestine the day of the attacks, too. My God how can one be so damn dense. “Let’s associate our legitimate grievances about atrocities by.. checks notes.. excusing or justifying other atrocities.”
