I live in Suhr, canton Aargau, and this morning, walking in a forest next to my house with my dog, I came across a snake.
First I was amazed that there was a snake in Switzerland, then I googled it and found out that it is not unusual.
Actually, the snake was very still, I guess because it is a warm-blooded animal and it was cold in the morning. But if you touched it, it moved, so don’t worry, it was not dead and my dog and I have left it alone and I guess it will continue to have its adventures.
Edit to say that is was like 15/20cm long aprox.
There are wild snakes in most parts of the world, snakes being very adaptable animals.
Da fk what comes next? Spiders, wasps or common flies?
It’s a blindschleiche, and a large one at that. Difference is that they are closer related to lizard than snakes, despite not having limbs. They can also leave their tail and flee, just like lizards do.
But there are snakes in switzerland, just more in the alps and ticino regions
Nice find. This is a type of legless lizard actually but there are a few snake species in CH like natrix natrix, vipera aspis and vipera berus.
You can easily spot them if you know where to look
