[The System](https://www.msi-dsl.com/products/msi-ds-terrahawk-vshorad/) comprises of a 30mm cannon, radar, optical tracker and generator mounted on a 20ft ISO-Seacontainer skid. It is controlled from a remote location and intended to defend stationary targets against drones.
I thought that was just at the prototype stage, do we even have more than one or two of them?
Still, pretty good way to test out your prototype. I wonder if it will be accompanied by ground crew technicians from the manufacturer.
I have no idea what this thing is but god damn “Terrahawk Paladin” might just be the best name of any military doodad ever.
The UK really does have the best names for things that go boom.
Never seen or heard of these before, didn’t even realize we had any AAA in the UK. Look like a good bit of kit though. Hope they serve well>
To discriminate targets with small RCS its going to have to radiate quite strongly – that’s why the generator’s there. If it starts radiating it’ll be particularly easy to triangulate since the 30mm cannon will be useful only very near the front. Once approx position is known, Orlans can surveil them safely. KA-52s can use LMURs from up to 14km away or just Vikhrs. AGLs or mortars can shell the area and the Orlan can spot for artillery or lase it for a Krasnopol if the Russians are feeling spendy and if it’s an Orlan-30.
Seems like another expensive but ultimately non-gamechanging piece of kit. Maybe sent over to see how it does on the battleground?
Worth noting to people this is a *brand new* bit of kit, that even the British Army doesn’t use. It’s only really turned up in the public eye in the last couple years.
