On the basis of no connection? As I understand it, humanity originated out of central Africa. So there’s your connection.
Just to get out ahead of the outrage train, here’s the relevant part of the article
>He argued that the Immigration and Social Security Co-ordination (EU Withdrawal) Act 2020 had withdrawn the UK from EU law relating to immigration, but had not mentioned asylum law.
“Immigration and asylum are distinct concepts in EU law, which are subject to distinct legal frameworks,” he said.
He added that UK lawmakers had “no intention to repeal a whole corpus of asylum rights” when they were writing the EU withdrawal act for Brexit.
Mr Drabble continued: “The Secretary of State’s case is that this whole body of law has been repealed with nobody lending their mind to it.”
So this isn’t “The EU are still imposing their will against the democratic mandate of the British people”, it’s “This was UK law before we left the EU and the UK Govt hasn’t yet repealed it”.
And of course this is just an argument that plaintiffs are making, it doesn’t mean it will be accepted.
> “The Secretary of State’s case is that this whole body of law has been repealed with nobody lending their mind to it.”
Sounds about right for this continuing shit show of a government. Make up a policy / promise, implement it in a half-baked and ill thought out way, hope nobody notices (and if they do notice, call them woke or something).
I think we have cottoned on to that already as that’s what’s been happening. Ambulance chasing lawyers have shifted their game to taking on human rights cases funded by legal aid to stop invaders being thrown out the country. The piss is being taken large and we are paying for it all! Lawyers and firms like Serco et. al are getting rich while we all get fucked over in the process.
Good. I only read the headline. I voted leave. I’m not a racist despite what the remainers claim. send the tories to Rwanda instead
